In an effort to reduce carbon footprint during their day-to-day operations and to keep the environment as clean as possible, Mansang Logistics, one of Scania’s most important customers in East Malaysia, have signed the Scania Ecolution Agreement recently.

Since Mansang Logistics’ trucks travel more than a thousand kilometers into rural areas on a daily basis, the company’s managing director Alex Lai Sian Ann said that it is only natural that his company signed up for the initiative from Scania as it is the least they can do to keep things eco-friendly.

PRESS RELEASE

Mansang Logistics became the first truck operator in Sarawak to sign the Scania Ecolution Agreement. The signing of the agreement was sealed today between Phang Yee Fong, the Regional Manager for the East Coast and East Malaysia, Scania Southeast Asia and Lim Kee San, Head of Customer Management, Mansang Logistics Sdn Bhd.

This move comes natural to Mansang Logistics as it has always been part of the company’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint and help care for the environment. Alex Lai Sian Ann (Alex), the Managing Director of Mansang Logistics understands the impact and responsibility his company has on the environment especially when its core business revolves around long-distance transportation.

As his vehicles are traveling more than a thousand kilometres into rural areas on a daily basis, signing up as a Scania Ecolution partner is the natural step towards reducing fuel consumption and thereby reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

Over the past several years, Scania has significantly reduced CO2 emissions from its own operations and from its own transport and logistics. Scania has also worked to minimise emissions from its products through fuel efficiency measures. Since more than 25 years, the company has provided the industry’s broadest range of products that run on alternatives to fossil fuels.

In September 2019, Scania announced its aim to set Science Based Targets (SBTi). The approval of these targets now marks another major milestone on the journey towards fossil-free transport.

“At Scania, we believe that sustainability and profitability can go hand-inhand. We are glad that Mansang is joining us on this journey towards a more sustainable transport system.” stated Phang Yee Fong.

Established in 2010, the founder Alex Lai, assisted by Henry Tiong, started a milk run business under P.M.S. Enterprise. The main business was transporting goods on a daily basis from major cities to rural towns such as Belaga, Bakun, and Sungai Asap using several different modes of transport, from four-wheel pickup trucks to boats.

In 2015 Alex, who also has a decade of experience in the maintenance and fabrication sector decided to expand and established Mansang Logistics Sdn Bhd and his first task was to ensure that the new company was able to coordinate and deliver to all seven districts in Sarawak ranging from North to South.

Alex maintained the use of four-wheel pickup trucks for deliveries during the initial operations. With his wife, Lim Kee San in charge of customer management, Alex, who is the Managing Director of Mansang Logistics, focuses on operations and with the support of his relatives and friends successfully carry out the daily deliveries through the interiors of Sarawak.
