Tesla has announced several updates for its vehicle lineup in Malaysia, including vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality for the Model 3, Model Y and Model Y L, interior upgrades for the Model 3 and the opening of reservations for its next-generation Roadster.
The updates expand the functionality of Tesla’s electric vehicles while giving Malaysian customers another opportunity to secure a place for the long-awaited electric sports car.
Tesla adds V2L capability across its lineup
One of the key additions is V2L Powershare, which allows compatible Tesla vehicles to supply electricity to external devices and appliances using energy stored in their traction batteries.
With the introduction of the feature in the Model 3, all new Model 3, Model Y and Model Y L vehicles are now V2L capable. Using Tesla’s Outlet Adapter, owners can access a 230V power supply rated at up to 13A through the vehicle’s charging port.

This allows the car to power items such as lamps, small household appliances and power tools, making the battery useful beyond driving. The feature could also come in handy during outdoor activities or situations where a conventional power supply is unavailable.
However, actual power availability and operating duration will depend on the vehicle’s specifications, battery charge and the devices connected.
Model 3 gets a bigger screen and refreshed cabin
The Tesla Model 3 receives several interior updates, with a black headliner and a larger 16-inch central touchscreen now included across the range.
Customers can also select a new Zen Grey interior and 19-inch Dark Nova wheels when configuring their vehicles.

Performance remains a major selling point. Depending on the variant, the Model 3 offers a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 750km, while the quickest version can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.1 seconds.
Tesla also highlights the Model 3’s safety credentials, citing ratings from organisations including the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Euro NCAP, ANCAP and China’s C-IASI.
In Malaysia, the Model 3 is available to order with prices starting from RM149,000. Tesla also advertises monthly payments from RM1,148, subject to the applicable financing terms.
Customers can configure the car through the official Tesla Model 3 website.
Next-generation Tesla Roadster opens reservations
The next-generation Tesla Roadster is now open for reservations in Malaysia and selected other markets, although production is not scheduled to begin until 2028.
Tesla describes the electric sports car as its ultimate expression of a driver-focused vehicle, with styling inspired by aircraft such as the SR-71 and F-35.
The company also promises performance beyond its existing Plaid models, with additional SpaceX-related components intended to deliver a more radical driving experience.

However, Tesla has yet to begin production, and the vehicle’s final production specifications, performance figures and Malaysian delivery arrangements remain important details to watch. Reservations should not be confused with confirmed local deliveries.
Another consideration for Malaysian buyers is that initial production will be limited to left-hand-drive vehicles. This means the Roadster’s eventual availability for regular road use in Malaysia will require further clarification, including whether right-hand-drive production will be offered.
Interested customers can register through the official Tesla Roadster reservation page or visit the Roadster website for further information.
Malaysia’s charging network continues to grow
Tesla says its Malaysian charging network currently comprises 21 Supercharger locations with 92 charging points, alongside 18 Destination Charging sites equipped with 78 Wall Connectors.
Six additional charging sites are planned by the end of 2026 across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Seremban and Penang.
The company also says more than 13,000 Malaysian households have been enabled to charge their vehicles at home, while its regional charging network supports journeys between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Tesla further provides cross-border warranty coverage, service access and connectivity across these markets, supporting owners who travel internationally.

Financing and referral incentives
For a limited period, Tesla is offering financing or trade-in incentives on selected models.
The Model 3 is eligible for a fixed interest rate starting from 0% or a trade-in rebate of up to RM10,000. For the Model Y, the options include a fixed interest rate starting from 0.88% or a RM15,000 trade-in rebate.
Tesla’s Refer and Earn programme also offers RM1,000 off a new vehicle for eligible referrals, while the referring owner receives RM500 in Tesla Credits. These credits can be redeemed for eligible rewards, including Supercharging credits and software upgrades.
The latest announcements give Tesla customers more functionality from their vehicles today, while the Roadster reservation programme offers a glimpse of the company’s ambitions for its next-generation performance car. For Malaysian buyers, the immediate developments are the Model 3’s updated cabin, the arrival of V2L capability and the continued expansion of charging infrastructure.
