Perodua Axia E sold out in two days, but more are coming

Perodua Axia E

Perodua’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad mentioned in a statement today that the first batch of the Perodua Axia E which was re-introduced last month to give motorists with a tight budget an option, was sold out in just 48 hours.

Fortunately, the “Rahmah-spec” Axia E manual is not a limited edition model, so more units will definitely be available very soon. Only the 2,500 units of the first batch were grabbed in 48 hours after its launch on June 15th. In fact, Perodua even mentioned during the launch of the Axia E that it is aiming to sell 1,500 units per month.

Priced at RM22,000 on the road without insurance, this variant is based on the Perodua Axia introduced in 2017 and is certified with a 4-star Asean NCAP rating by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS). So, technically, it is an older model which has returned to the market.

It is also worth mentioning here that the Axia E here is about RM2,000 cheaper than before, as it was being sold for RM24,090 before it made way for the next-generation Axia, which is priced from RM38,600.

“The Perodua Axia E is part of our original objective of providing affordable and quality mobility for all Malaysians,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

The Perodua Axia E manual transmission comes with two airbags, seatbelt reminder for the driver and a 5-year warranty. There are three options for colours including Ivory White, Glittering Silver and the new Granite Grey.

Since its launch in 2014 until 31st May 2023, Perodua registered 606,756 units of the Axia model, including the All-New Axia which was launched in February 2023.

“While we do not dictate who our customers are, we believe that having this model would be a welcome option by majority of Malaysians.

“The Perodua Axia E has been market tested and proven over years and we believe that this variant would serve its current role of giving motorcycle owners an opportunity to own a new car.

“Based on our discussion with local financial institutions, we found that it only takes RM300 per month to pay the hire purchase cost of owning the Axia E. This is the same cost that would take for someone to buy a brand-new motorcycle on hire purchase,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said.
