UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) maintained its positive sales momentum in the second quarter of 2026, delivering more than 7,300 vehicles in June to bring its second-quarter total to over 20,800 units. This also lifted the company’s year-to-date sales to more than 36,200 units.

The performance comes as Toyota continues to broaden its product portfolio and strengthen its electrification strategy in Malaysia, offering customers a wider range of powertrain options instead of relying on a single solution.

Central to this approach is Toyota’s Multi-Pathway Strategy, which combines conventional petrol vehicles, hybrids (HEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and other future technologies to cater to different driving needs and lifestyles.

The strategy has been further strengthened this year with the arrival of the Toyota Yaris Cross, available in both petrol and hybrid variants, alongside the expansion of Toyota’s BEV lineup comprising the bZ4X, Urban Cruiser BEV, and Hilux BEV.

Rather than pushing customers towards full electrification immediately, Toyota believes giving buyers multiple choices allows them to adopt lower-emission mobility at their own pace while maintaining practicality for everyday use.

UMWT President Datuk Ravindran K. said the company’s second-quarter performance reflects continued customer confidence in Toyota’s expanding model range and its long-term mobility strategy.

He added that Toyota’s focus extends beyond launching new models, with equal emphasis placed on building an ownership ecosystem that provides greater convenience, confidence and value throughout the customer journey.

Besides introducing new vehicles, UMW Toyota Motor has also continued enhancing ownership through its Toyota Extra Mile programme, which bundles a range of aftersales and customer benefits under six key pillars: Extra Rewards, Extra Protection, Extra Convenience, Extra Peace of Mind, Extra Security and Extra Care.

The programme is designed to deliver added value beyond the showroom by offering ownership rewards, enhanced vehicle protection, easier service access and greater customer support throughout the ownership experience.

As competition in Malaysia’s automotive market intensifies, Toyota’s latest sales figures suggest the brand’s balanced approach—offering everything from conventional ICE models and hybrids to fully electric vehicles, backed by comprehensive aftersales support—continues to resonate with Malaysian buyers.

With more than 36,200 vehicles sold during the first half of 2026, Toyota remains one of the country’s strongest-performing automotive brands as it continues expanding its range of lower-emission mobility solutions.
