Proton X50 Sport Edition Launched at RM102,299, Adds 15 Upgrades for RM1,999

Proton X50 Sport Edition

Proton has officially launched the All-New Proton X50 Sport Edition (SE) in Malaysia, adding 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements to the Flagship variant for an additional RM1,999.

Priced at RM102,299 on-the-road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia, the Sport Edition is based on the X50 Flagship, which costs RM100,300 after October 2026 rebates of up to RM13,000. In East Malaysia, the corresponding prices are RM104,299 for the Sport Edition and RM102,300 for the Flagship.

Available through authorised Proton dealerships nationwide, the Sport Edition is a styling package rather than a separate mechanical variant, targeting buyers who want a more distinctive-looking version of Malaysia’s best-selling B-segment SUV.

15 upgrades bring a sportier look

The X50 Sport Edition adopts a coordinated black-and-red theme, featuring black front upper garnish, front side port trim garnish, lower bumper garnish and rear side port trim garnish.

Other exterior additions include black 18-inch alloy wheels, exclusive Sport Edition front, side and rear skirtings, and a Sport Edition emblem.

Inside, red stitching on the steering wheel, armrest, door trims and seats adds contrast to the black cabin. Sport Edition embroidery on the front seats, exclusive floor detailing, TPE floor mats and metal door scuff plates complete the package.

Proton says the enhancements underwent more than 13,700 hours of testing covering durability, corrosion resistance, UV resistance and suitability for Malaysia’s tropical climate.

The company values the exclusive enhancements at RM7,000, although buyers pay only RM1,999 over the standard Flagship price.

Same engine, technology and safety features

Underneath the cosmetic changes, the X50 Sport Edition retains the Flagship’s mechanical package.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre i-GT turbocharged engine producing 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

The cabin retains a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside the ‘Hi Proton’ voice command system and Proton Link 2.0 connectivity.

Safety equipment is also unchanged, including 15 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features and Auto Park Assist (APA). A 360-degree HD camera with 180-degree Transparent View and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) are also included.

Proton Link 2.0 adds connected convenience

The Proton Link 2.0 mobile application allows owners to remotely access selected vehicle functions and check information such as vehicle location, fuel level, estimated driving range, vehicle alerts and trip history.

Owners with selected Huawei smartwatches running HarmonyOS can also control key functions from their wrists, including engine start and stop, air-conditioning, door locks, power windows, trunk access, and horn and lights activation.

Warranty and ownership benefits

Both the X50 Flagship and Sport Edition come with Proton’s ownership package, comprising a five-year warranty with unlimited mileage and free labour for six services under Pro-Warranty.

Owners also receive Pro-Connect, which provides five years of in-car data with a monthly allowance of 2GB.

At RM1,999 above the Flagship, the Sport Edition is primarily aimed at buyers who want a more individual look without paying for mechanical upgrades they may not need. The engine, technology and safety equipment remain unchanged, but the black-and-red treatment gives the X50 a sportier appearance straight from the dealership.
