Isuzu Malaysia Maintains Market Position with Strong D-Max Sales

Isuzu D-Max

Isuzu Malaysia has retained its position as the second-best selling brand in the pick-up truck segment, driven by continued strong sales of the Isuzu D-Max.

In the first half of 2025, the company captured a 16 percent market share with 3,081 units sold. This growth follows its best quarterly performance to date in Q1. Over 85.8 percent of sales were contributed by the 1.9-litre variants, which remain popular for their fuel efficiency, performance, and everyday usability.

One of the top-performing models was the 1.9-litre 4×4 Auto Premium, which accounted for 18.6 percent of total sales. This variant is known for its value offering and features, and previously gained recognition in the Malaysia Book of Records for the longest distance travelled on a single tank.

“These results reflect a shift in consumer perception, with more drivers recognising the practical benefits of the Isuzu D-Max,” said Tomoyuki Yamaguchi, CEO of Isuzu Malaysia. “We aim to sustain this momentum into the second half of the year.”

Isuzu Malaysia currently offers nine variants of the D-Max, ranging from the entry-level 1.9-litre Low Ride 4×2 to the flagship X-Terrain. The wide model range is designed to cater to both commercial and private users.

Chief Operating Officer Kenichi Kudo added that upcoming efforts will include outreach beyond showroom locations to give potential customers direct product experiences.

“Key efforts for the second half of the year will focus on improving the accessibility of our products by reaching out to potential customers beyond the perimeters of our outlets and offering them immersive experiences that highlight the key benefits of our products,” added Kudo.
