UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Malaysia today announced a Special Service Campaign (SSC) to replace the fuel pump on certain units of Toyota and Lexus models.
This SSC is an expansion of earlier campaign. Based on the information received from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), there are 9,500 new units of Toyota (Alphard, Vellfire, Camry, Corolla, Fortuner, Innova, C-HR and Harrier) and 850 new units of Lexus (ES250, GS200t, GS350, IS200t, LC500, LS500, LX570, NX300, RX300 and RX350) models manufactured from July 2017 to July 2019 and distributed by UMWT involved in this campaign.
Model not listed here are not affected by this campaign. The subject vehicles are equipped with a fuel pump which may stop operating. If this were to occur, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel, and engine power hesitation may happen.
UMWT will officially notify all its affected vehicle owners to replace the fuel pump unit at no charge. However, the replacement work should depend on the car models.

Assembly Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB), UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd’s subsidiary involved in manufacturing Toyota vehicles, has resumed its assembly operations.
This follows approval given by the Selangor State Government in relation to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) that was announced on 4 May 2020.
ASSB suspended all operations from 18 March 2020 when the Movement Control Order (MCO) was activated nationwide as a measure to break the transmission of the COVID-19 coronavirus and will re-commence its operations on 11 May 2020 onwards.
“We are grateful to the Selangor State Government for its decision to implement the CMCO with customised details and understand that it is in the best interest of the state and people,” said Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.
“With the resumption of operations, we hope to help in boosting the economy and add momentum to the automotive industry and business moving forward.”
As with all companies allowed to resume their operations at full capacity, there are strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which must be followed. ASSB will fully adhere to these SOPs for the protection and health of its approximate 2000 employees working at its facilities.
The SOPs include establishing distances of 1 metre or more between workers; regular temperature checks; provision and use of hand sanitizers and face masks; and sanitization of various areas around the plant three times daily. Where necessary, working hours and work flows are adjusted to create a safe environment.

Even if a collision does occur, the early action of the system can reduce damage.

Vehicle Telematics System

connectivity feature that uses GPS/GSM to track the location of the car at all
times. This can aid recovery by the police if the vehicle is stolen. VTS can
also monitor and record vehicle speeds and other operating conditions that the
vehicle has been subjected to, with data sent by email to a designated user.
