Honda Malaysia today announced a product recall involving 2,784 units of 1999 Year Model and 2000 Year Model Honda vehicles to replace the Takata driver front airbag inflator.
It is said that the recall is a preventive measure, in line with Honda global Non-Azide Driver Airbag Inflator (NADI) recall.
The models involved in this product recall to replace the Takata driver front airbag inflator are:
1999 Honda Accord (1,380 units)
2000 Honda CR-V (1,404 units)
Honda Malaysia reassured that current selling models are not affected in this product recall, and the company will continue to uphold transparency and stringent controls for customers.
As of today, there have not been any reports in Malaysia of incidents or injury caused by the Takata driver front airbag in the two models mentioned above.
Affected customers will be informed via notification letters, which will include details of the product recall. Honda Malaysia urges all affected customers to contact any Honda authorized dealer to make an appointment upon receipt of notification to replace the driver front airbag inflator subject to parts availability.
The company also encourages public who have relatives or friends owning these two models to immediately contact Honda Malaysia to arrange for the driver front airbag replacement.
The company requests all affected customers to make an appointment in advance to ensure a smooth and quick driver front airbag replacement process. Customers are required to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the authorities, which include wearing face mask properly, maintaining physical distancing and, sanitising their hands at all times when visiting the dealerships.
The replacement of the affected Takata drive front airbag inflator is free of charge and all cost related to this replacement activity will be borne by Honda Malaysia. The replacement stock will be available in stages.
Honda Malaysia (or the Company) today announced the reduction in prices for Honda cars following the Government of Malaysia’s announcement of 100% sales tax exemption on Completely Knocked Down (CKD) models and 50% sales tax exemption on Completely Built Unit (CBU) models in the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA).
With the relevant adjustments made, the prices of Honda’s CKD models, namely the Jazz, New BR-V, City, HR-V, New Civic, CR-V and All-New Accord will reduce between RM2,788.46* and RM8,545.63. Meanwhile, Honda’s CBU model of Odyssey will be lower by RM9,502.47. The new pricing takes effect from 15th June 2020 to 31st December 2020.
In addition to the new pricing, customers can also enjoy the on-going special treats with their new Honda cars under the “Kita Bersama Deals” campaign.

Honda Malaysia announced that the all-new Accord is now open
for booking at all 100 Honda dealerships nationwide, with the launch set to
take place sometime within the next two months.
There has not been any indication on the pricing yet, but
the big news is that it will be powered by an enhanced 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged
engine which is a first for the flagship model.
Honda Malaysia says that the engine produces 201PS and
maximum torque of 260Nm, which is more powerful than the current 2.4L engine’s
Featuring a more fastback-like design, the all-new Accord will come with full LED headlights and taillights, chrome tailpipes, as well as 18-inch wheels.
There will also be the full suite of Honda Sensing safety and
driver assistance features, which includes:

3. Auto High-Beam (AHB)
4. Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

In addition to the full Honda Sensing suite, the 10th Generation Accord is also equipped with Smart Parking Assist System with Brake Assist (Rear), Multi View Camera System (360-degree camera) and Honda LaneWatch for drivers convenience and safety.
All variants of the All-New Accord will come with standard safety features such as Six Airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), front and rear parking sensors together with Multi-angle Rear view Camera.
