MG Motor Malaysia recently offered an exclusive first look at the highly anticipated all-new MGS5 EV, signaling the brand’s renewed push into the Malaysian electric vehicle (EV) market.
The B-segment electric SUV is set to launch with an estimated starting price from RM115,000, combining value, versatility, and advanced EV technology in a stylish package.
The MGS5 EV introduces a new standard in accessible electric mobility, offering fast charging capabilities, spacious interior comfort, intelligent safety systems, and rear-wheel drive performance — all equipped as standard across variants.
“This is more than just a product reveal — it’s the beginning of a new era for MG in Malaysia,” said Emory Qifeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia. “The MGS5 EV exemplifies what Malaysian drivers can expect moving forward: class-leading driving dynamics, practical features, and innovative technology, tailored specifically for our roads.”
The MGS5 EV is available with two powertrain configurations. The 49kWh battery delivers 170PS and 250Nm of torque, offering up to 340km of WLTP-certified range. For those seeking longer journeys, a 62.2kWh option extends range up to 430km and supports 150kW DC fast charging.
Both versions promise engaging rear-wheel drive (RWD) handling, 6.6kW AC charging, and cutting-edge connectivity, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch infotainment display with voice control, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
For drivers wanting an upscale experience, the 62kWh model comes with a host of luxury features: 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, dual-material leather-fabric seats, heated steering wheel, 6-speaker premium audio, and 360-degree surround camera.
Comfort-focused additions include power-adjustable seating, rear reading lights, and rain-sensing wipers.
Safety wise, all models feature seven airbags and a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, offering peace of mind on every drive.
That being said, the MGS5 EV will be offered in five exterior colours: Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte, each paired with a dark leather-fabric interior.
