iCAUR Malaysia has officially started local assembly (CKD) operations for the iCAUR 03, less than a year after the EV SUV made its Malaysian debut as a fully imported (CBU) model.
The move marks the brand’s next expansion phase in Malaysia’s growing New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market, with the first batch of locally assembled units set to arrive at dealerships nationwide by the end of May 2026.
Since its launch in September 2025, the iCAUR 03 has gained traction among Malaysians looking for something different from the typical electric SUV formula. Its signature “Boxy Retro Classic” styling, rugged SUV-inspired stance, and intelligent EV powertrain have helped the model stand out in an increasingly crowded EV space.
According to iCAUR Malaysia Senior Director Francis Chin, the shift to CKD production allows the brand to meet rising demand while maintaining the same specifications and driving character introduced with the original imported model.
Production is being carried out at the Chery Corporate Malaysia plant in Shah Alam, leveraging the facility’s established manufacturing capabilities while strengthening local automotive operations.
The locally assembled iCAUR 03 will continue to be offered in the Intelligent All Wheel Drive (iWD) variant, featuring a dual-motor setup producing 205 kW (279 PS) and 385 Nm of torque. Power comes from a 69.8 kWh battery pack, delivering up to 418 km of range based on the NEDC cycle.
Charging support includes 80 kW DC fast charging, 6.6 kW AC charging, and a 3.2 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that allows the SUV to power external electrical devices.
Beyond its retro-inspired design language, the iCAUR 03 retains features such as advanced driver assistance systems, a fully digital cabin, intelligent connectivity, and reinforced battery protection systems aimed at both urban and lifestyle-oriented users.
The CKD iCAUR 03 iWD is priced from RM129,880 excluding insurance for Peninsular Malaysia. Buyers will also receive a complimentary 7 kW AC home charger and free scheduled maintenance for two years or 45,000 km, whichever comes first.
In April 2026 alone, iCAUR recorded 547 registered units across its model line-up, reflecting growing demand for EVs that blend distinctive styling, practicality, and smart technology.
iCAUR Malaysia says the locally assembled iCAUR 03 is only the start of its longer-term plans here, with more character-driven NEV models expected as the brand expands its presence in the country.
