Prior to its official launch here, GWM Malaysia is previewing two new models, the Ora 5 HEV and the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV, at the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026.

GWM Malaysia has taken a multi-brand, multi-powertrain approach to the market, a wider reflection of its global mobility philosophy of delivering the right vehicle, technology and powertrain for every Malaysian journey and driving scenario.

First up is the Ora 5 HEV, powered by GWM’s all-new hybrid Hi2 technology. The system is a combination of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and an electric motor.

The combined figures are 223 PS and 476 Nm of torque with a century sprint time of 7.7 seconds. Coupled with a small 1.09 kWh lithium-ion battery, the crossover is capable of over 1,100 km of driving range.

Its footprint of 4,471 mm in length, 1,833 mm in width and 1,641 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm makes it slightly larger than its peers such as the Proton X50, Honda HR-V and Toyota Yaris Cross.

If you prefer a much more traditional SUV silhouette and stance, GWM Malaysia will direct your attention to the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV.

All the prerequisites of an off-roader are checked, with a boxy design and external spare tyre mounted on a side-swinging tailgate.

The H7 on display runs a 150 PS and 230 Nm of torque 1.5-litre turbo inline-four engine that works with twin electric motors. In the front, the electric motor makes 109 PS and 170 Nm of torque while the rear one dishes out 204 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Combined, they all make 370 PS and 750 Nm of torque.

A 27.54 kWh LFP battery gives it a pure electric range of 115 km, with the combined range exceeding 1,000 km.

Inside sits a twin-spoke steering wheel, a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, much welcomed physical air-conditioning controls and a cooled centre console storage compartment.

To ensure the H7’s bite matches its bark, GWM has engineered some impressive off-roading capabilities into it. This includes a 25-degree approach angle, 32-degree departure angle, a 20.1-degree breakover angle, 580 mm maximum wading depth and an electronically controlled rear differential lock.
