Chery Malaysia has expanded its SUV range with the launch of the new TIGGO 8, a seven-seater positioned as the most accessible model in the TIGGO 8 line-up.
Slotting below the TIGGO 8 Pro and the TIGGO 8 PHEV, the new variant is aimed at buyers seeking space, modern features, and strong value without stepping into premium pricing territory.
According to Chery Malaysia Vice President Lee Wen Hsiang, the decision to introduce this variant was driven by positive market response to the TIGGO 8 family and feedback from local customers who prioritise interior space, safety, and everyday usability.

The TIGGO 8 is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged gasoline direct-injection engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This setup produces 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque, delivering smooth acceleration and confident overtaking while remaining efficient for daily driving. Fuel consumption is rated at approximately 7.0 L/100 km, making it suitable for both urban use and long-distance travel.
In terms of size, the TIGGO 8 measures 4,772 mm in length and 1,860 mm in width, riding on a 2,710 mm wheelbase. This contributes to a stable driving feel and a spacious cabin layout.
With a kerb weight of 1,590 kg, the SUV offers up to 1,930 litres of cargo capacity when required, while a standard power tailgate improves convenience during loading and unloading.

Inside, the TIGGO 8 focuses on comfort and functionality. Standard equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof with an integrated sunshade, and an eight-speaker Sony sound system.
A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen works alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included for smartphone connectivity.
The SUV is also equipped with a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including autonomous emergency braking, forward and rear collision warnings, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, door open warning, intelligent high beam control, and a distance warning system. A 360-degree panoramic camera further enhances visibility in tight spaces.
While the TIGGO 8 serves as the value-driven option in the range, the TIGGO 8 Pro is positioned as a more performance-oriented and premium alternative. The most obvious distinction is the powertrain.

The TIGGO 8 Pro uses a larger 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with significantly higher output, delivering stronger acceleration and a more dynamic driving experience compared to the 1.6-litre unit in the standard TIGGO 8.
The TIGGO 8 Pro also offers a higher level of equipment. This includes larger alloy wheels, a more advanced panoramic camera system, additional airbags, and a larger integrated dual-screen display for the infotainment and instrument cluster. Cabin upgrades on the Pro model extend to features such as ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and memory functions, giving it a more upscale feel.

In short, the TIGGO 8 is designed to deliver space, safety, and everyday practicality at a more attainable price point, making it well-suited for families. The TIGGO 8 Pro, meanwhile, caters to buyers who prioritise performance and premium features and are prepared to pay more for them.
The TIGGO 8 is offered in Dark Black and Khaki White. Customers will also receive a launch package valued at RM13,700, which includes a seven-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, a ten-year or one-million-kilometre engine warranty, five years of free all-inclusive servicing, and one year of the Chery Insurance Programme, subject to terms and conditions.

Pricing is set at RM129,800 for Peninsular Malaysia and RM132,500 for East Malaysia. The Chery TIGGO 8 will be available at all authorised Chery showrooms nationwide from 24 January 2026.
