Chery Tiggo 7 Earns Four Global Five-Star Safety Ratings

The Chery Tiggo 7 has achieved a rare global safety milestone, becoming the only Chinese-brand vehicle to secure five-star safety ratings from four major crash-test authorities: Euro NCAP, ANCAP, ASEAN NCAP and C-NCAP.

The achievement positions the Tiggo 7 among the most comprehensively safety-validated SUVs in its segment, highlighting Chery’s focus on structural engineering, active safety systems and occupant protection.

A major highlight came in late 2025 when the Tiggo 7 secured a five-star rating from ASEAN NCAP with a record score of 94.68 points, the highest result recorded by the organisation since it was established in 2011.

The model also achieved perfect scores in both Adult Occupant Protection and Safety Assist, making it the only plug-in hybrid vehicle to earn a “double perfect score” in those categories.

To address Southeast Asia’s complex traffic environment — often involving dense motorcycle traffic and unpredictable road conditions — the Tiggo 7 is equipped with an L2+ intelligent driver assistance system. Key features include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, which activate automatically at speeds above 15 km/h to help reduce the risk of collisions during lane changes or when opening doors.

The SUV’s passive safety architecture is equally robust. Its body structure uses more than 61% high-strength steel, while a front aluminium anti-collision beam is designed to help maintain cabin integrity during severe impacts.

In Malaysia, the Tiggo 7 lineup is offered in two variants: the plug-in hybrid Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV and the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.

The model’s global recognition continued in October 2025, when the Tiggo 7 received a five-star rating from Euro NCAP, delivering strong results across Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection and Safety Assist.

Two months later, ANCAP confirmed that the Australia-spec Tiggo 7 CSH matched the same performance demonstrated in Europe, earning a five-star safety rating under its testing regime.

Because Euro NCAP and ANCAP share closely aligned testing protocols, achieving five-star ratings from both organisations within a short period further reinforces the Tiggo 7’s ability to meet some of the world’s toughest crash-safety standards.

The SUV’s engineering foundation centres on a cage-type energy-absorbing body structure, with high-strength steel making up more than 60 percent of the vehicle’s construction. Critical areas are reinforced with 1500 MPa hot-formed steel, while eight airbags are fitted as standard across the range.

The Tiggo 7 also incorporates a suite of intelligent safety technologies aimed at assisting drivers in real-world conditions. These include Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) capable of detecting vehicles and pedestrians ahead and applying braking force when necessary.

Another highlight is the 540-degree transparent chassis view, which gives drivers a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings to reduce blind spots and make manoeuvring easier.

From China to Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia, the Tiggo 7’s performance across multiple crash-test programmes demonstrates Chery’s ambition to deliver vehicles that combine advanced technology with high safety standards for drivers and families worldwide.

Chery Off to a Strong Start in 2026

Despite a period of structural adjustment and rapid technological change across the global automotive industry, Chery has begun 2026 on a strong note.

In February 2026, the company recorded global sales of 161,000 vehicles, representing a 41.5% year-on-year increase.

Export demand also remains strong, with monthly overseas shipments exceeding 100,000 units for ten consecutive months.

To date, Chery Group has accumulated more than 18.89 million users worldwide, including over 6.09 million customers outside China, making it the first Chinese automotive brand to surpass the six-million overseas-user milestone.
