BYD Malaysia has officially launched the refreshed 2026 Atto 3, bringing significant upgrades to one of the country’s best-selling electric SUVs. Available in two variants, the new Atto 3 Ultra is priced at RM125,800, while the range-topping Atto 3 Premium retails at RM138,800.
While the updated model receives a refreshed exterior and cabin, the biggest changes lie beneath the skin. The new Atto 3 Premium introduces a rear-wheel-drive layout, a larger battery pack, substantially more power and significantly faster charging capabilities, making it much more than a typical mid-life facelift.
The headline-grabbing Premium variant produces 313 PS and 380 Nm of torque, a substantial increase over the previous Atto 3 Ultra’s 204 PS and 310 Nm. As a result, the century sprint time drops from 7.3 seconds to just 5.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric SUVs in its segment.
Driving range has also improved considerably. The outgoing model’s 60.48-kWh Blade Battery has been replaced by a larger 74.88-kWh unit in the Premium variant, extending WLTP-rated range from 420 km to 510 km.
The new model also adopts an 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling DC fast charging speeds of up to 220 kW, a major leap over its predecessor and allowing significantly shorter charging times.
Visually, the 2026 Atto 3 receives a series of subtle but noticeable styling updates. These include redesigned front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheel designs, revised taillights featuring a fresh lighting signature and a sportier roof spoiler with split brake lights. BYD has also removed the scale-pattern trim previously found on the rear pillars, giving the SUV a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.
Inside, the cabin retains its distinctive design elements but benefits from several key improvements. A new steering wheel, larger 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and redesigned centre console modernise the interior, while a new column-mounted gear selector replaces the conventional gear lever, freeing up additional storage space between the front seats.
The updated platform also brings improvements in practicality. Boot space has increased to 490 litres, while a new 101-litre front storage compartment, or frunk, provides additional cargo capacity that was absent in the previous model.
Beyond performance and practicality, the Atto 3 also gains an expanded list of driver assistance and convenience features. Depending on variant, these include Front Cross Traffic Alert, Front Cross Traffic Brake, Intelligent Speed Limit Control, dual-zone climate control and enhanced front passenger seat adjustment functions.
The Atto 3 Ultra remains the entry point to the range at RM125,800, offering the refreshed design, upgraded interior and enhanced equipment list at a competitive price point. Meanwhile, the RM138,800 Premium variant targets buyers seeking stronger performance, longer range and the latest EV technology.
With more power, faster charging, greater range and improved practicality, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 arrives as the most comprehensive update yet for BYD’s popular electric SUV, strengthening its position in Malaysia’s increasingly competitive EV market.
