Wisedrive, Malaysia’s first all-in-one AI-powered technology platform built specifically for the used car market, was officially launched recently at Unipac Engineering’s headquarters in Shah Alam.
Designed to improve transparency in used car transactions, Wisedrive combines AI-driven vehicle inspections, sound recognition, visual analysis and diagnostic data into a single system. The platform enables buyers, sellers and industry players to better understand a vehicle’s true condition, supporting more accurate decisions and reporting when buying or selling used cars.
With Malaysia’s used car market estimated at around 800,000 units annually—fuelled by strong new vehicle sales in recent years—the introduction of advanced inspection technology comes at a timely moment. Wisedrive aims to address long-standing concerns around incomplete or inconsistent vehicle assessments by providing information that is accurate, efficient and comprehensive.

For sellers, including private owners and used car dealers, the platform offers a more reliable way to present vehicle condition. This supports fairer pricing, smoother financing approvals and faster stock turnover, while helping to maintain trust in online used car transactions.
“We are proud to be part of the Wisedrive ecosystem, which is built on a shared vision of using technology and data to improve transparency, efficiency and trust within the automotive industry,” said Hafiz Zubir, Country Manager of Wisedrive Malaysia. “Through this partnership, we aim to drive Wisedrive’s expansion and localisation in Malaysia, supported by strong product capabilities and regional experience.”
Wisedrive’s AI technology works by comparing visual and audio inputs against a vast database of known vehicle issues, including faults that are difficult to detect through manual inspection. The system uses machine learning, computer vision and acoustic processing to analyse 150,000 visual datasets and 31 million audio datasets across 8,245 car models and variants. This includes local brands such as Proton and Perodua, covering models from their launches in 1985 and 1994 respectively.
The technology delivers engine diagnostics that are claimed to be up to 20 times more accurate than traditional inspections, drawing from more than 1.3 million engine sound samples and associated fault data. Human error is reduced by up to 95%, as inspectors only need to upload photos and videos via the app, while inspection time is cut by 75%.

From a customer perspective, the process is fully streamlined, with a two-minute booking process, a 90-minute inspection session and a complete vehicle report generated immediately after inspection.
“Malaysia will be the first market for Wisedrive’s expansion in Southeast Asia with full operational teams and supporting partners,” said Philipp Moeller, CEO of Wisedrive Southeast Asia. “It is a strategic choice, as Malaysia is both a car-producing nation and a market with high adoption of AI and digital technologies.”
Moeller added that Wisedrive is designed to create commercial value across the wider automotive ecosystem. By standardising inspection, diagnostic and risk data, the platform enables banks, insurers and dealers to price vehicles more accurately while reducing operational risk. Workshops also benefit from a steady flow of verified inspection and repair work, positioning Wisedrive as a shared growth platform for industry stakeholders.
Following its Malaysian rollout, Wisedrive is expected to begin pilot operations in Thailand and Indonesia in the first quarter of 2026.
