Volvo Car Malaysia has officially launched the evolved Volvo EX90, bringing significant hardware and software upgrades to the brand’s flagship seven-seat electric SUV.
The biggest changes over the earlier CBU-imported EX90 are the move to an 800-volt electrical architecture, a more powerful NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based computing platform, faster DC charging and increased driving range.

The updated EX90 is also now locally assembled in Shah Alam, and is priced from RM428,888, excluding insurance.
For the first 100 units booked, Volvo Car Malaysia is offering a RM25,000 cash rebate together with a Volvo Wallbox worth RM3,990.
800V architecture brings faster charging and more range
The most significant hardware change is the adoption of an 800V electrical architecture, replacing the previous system.
The new setup allows the EX90 to accept up to 350kW DC fast charging, with a claimed 10-80% charging time of 22 minutes. Volvo says the higher-voltage system also reduces heat generation and weight during charging.

Power comes from a 106kWh battery, with the updated EX90 offering up to 617km of WLTP range.
The Twin Motor all-wheel-drive powertrain produces 680hp and 870Nm, enabling the seven-seat SUV to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds.
New NVIDIA computing hardware
Another major change is under the skin.
The evolved EX90 is powered by an NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computer, providing significantly greater computing capability for the vehicle’s safety systems, sensors, battery management and other functions.
The hardware is paired with Volvo’s Superset technology stack, which allows the company to deliver more frequent over-the-air software updates.

This means the EX90 can receive improvements and new functions throughout its ownership, covering areas such as infotainment, battery management, safety and driving performance.
The SUV continues to feature Google built-in services, including Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store, with a 14.5-inch central touchscreen complemented by a 9-inch driver display and head-up display. A Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity Audio System is also fitted.
More advanced safety systems
Volvo continues to position the EX90 as its most advanced safety offering, with its Safe Space Technology combining radars, sensors and ultrasonic sensors to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings.
Inside, infrared sensors form part of the Driver Understanding System, which monitors the driver’s condition and can intervene when distraction or impairment is detected.

The cabin also features an Occupant Sensing System capable of detecting extremely small movements, including breathing, to help prevent occupants from being accidentally left inside the vehicle.
The latest EX90 also gains Volvo’s next-generation Pilot Assist and Park Pilot Assist, alongside the brand’s existing suite of active safety and collision avoidance systems.
Seven-seat luxury with Scandinavian design
Visually, the evolved EX90 retains the minimalist design of the original model, with flush glazing and aerodynamic bodywork designed to improve efficiency.
Inside, the flagship SUV gets ventilated Nappa leather upholstery, natural wood trim and an electrochromic roof that allows occupants to adjust the amount of light entering the cabin.

Two interior combinations are offered: Charcoal Nappa leather with Light Ash decor and Cardamom Nappa leather with Brown Ash.
Exterior colour choices include Onyx Black, Sand Dune, Crystal White, Vapour Grey and Mulberry Red.
