UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recorded more than 24,500 vehicle sales in the third quarter of 2026, bringing its total sales for the first nine months of the year to over 60,800 units.

Beyond sales, Toyota Malaysia is focusing on making vehicle ownership more convenient, with initiatives covering digital servicing, customer rewards and expanded access to public EV charging.

The latest moves reflect a broader shift in how carmakers compete in Malaysia, where the ownership experience increasingly extends beyond the vehicle itself to include aftersales support, digital services and access to new mobility solutions.

“ Our third quarter performance reflects the continued trust Malaysians place in Toyota and the strength of the ownership experience we have built over the years,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.

He added that the company would continue to focus on reliability, convenience and customer confidence, with the aim of delivering value throughout the ownership journey.

Toyota MY App users can earn Loyal-T Points

One of UMWT’s latest initiatives is the return of its Toyota MY App campaign, running from 14 September to 31 December 2026.

Customers will receive 500 Loyal-T Points upon registering for the app, with another 500 points awarded for every service booking made through the app when sending their vehicle for servicing. The campaign is open to both new and existing users.

The initiative encourages customers to manage more of their aftersales needs digitally, potentially making routine maintenance easier to arrange while rewarding repeat engagement with Toyota’s services.

42 public EV charging points planned across 21 sites

UMWT is also expanding its support for electrified mobility through its Multi-Pathway approach, working with chargEV and JomCharge to introduce public EV charging facilities at selected Toyota and Lexus locations nationwide.

The plan calls for 42 charging points across 21 sites, with a phased rollout scheduled for the first half of 2027. Of these, 38 charging points will be installed across 19 locations under chargEV, while JomCharge will provide four points across two locations.

Seven sites have been completed so far, with the remaining locations to follow in stages. Importantly, the charging facilities will be open to all EVs, rather than being exclusive to Toyota and Lexus owners. Drivers will be able to locate participating sites through the respective charging operators’ apps.

The expansion offers EV drivers more charging options at familiar automotive locations while extending Toyota’s involvement in Malaysia’s evolving mobility ecosystem.

Taken together, the initiatives show how UMWT is looking beyond vehicle sales to strengthen customer relationships throughout ownership. Digital service bookings and rewards target everyday convenience, while the charging network creates an additional touchpoint as Malaysia’s EV market develops.
