Shell Rimula celebrated another successful year as the best-selling heavy duty diesel engine oil in Malaysia with more than 450 loyal customers from across the country at a special appreciation gala dinner at Kingwood Hotel, Sibu.

Featuring the theme ‘Night of Heavyweights’, the annual event was aimed at thanking customers across all sectors from logistics and timber to agriculture and construction who contributed to making Shell Rimula the most preferred heavy duty diesel engine oil brand in the country.

At the event, Shell Rimula also officially presented the six Grand Prize winners of its 2014 Shell Rimula Global Promotion Contest who were going on an all-expense paid VIP trip to London in September.

In London, the lucky six – Mr Chan Meng Fei, 29, of JM Auto Gallery, Alor Setar; Mr Khoo Teik Seng, 39, of Megasen Sdn Bhd from Pulau Pinang; Mr Liau Chia Chin, 40, of Eastrade Enterprise, Miri; Mr Loh Yew Sing, 53, of Wei Sin Trading, Sandakan; Mr Tan Chin Purn, 27, of Tamex Timber Sdn Bhd, Miri; and Mr Tang Chung Lay, 47, of Rimbunan Hijau General Trading Sdn Bhd in Sibu — will also be representing Malaysia in the inaugural Shell Rimula Heavyweight Driving Challenge.

They will be among global finalists from 12 countries who will put their heavy-duty driving skills to the test by driving a range of heavy vehicles through a series of obstacles at the unique competition in a bid to be crowned the first-ever Shell Rimula Heavyweight Driving Champion.

The 2014 Shell Rimula global promotion contest was held from April 1 to June 30, 2014 and was open to all customers who purchased a drum or pail of Shell Rimula R4 X, R5 LE or R6 LM heavy-duty diesel engine oil.

According to Troy Chapman, Cluster General Manager, Shell Lubricants –SEA, this year has been another hugely successful one for the Shell Rimula brand as it sought to reinforce its market leadership position not only in Malaysia but also globally.

“At Shell, we value every opportunity to interact with our customers and understand their business needs.  We believe we have succeeded in reaching out to the many hardworking truckers out there via our unique Shell Rimula Technology Lab roadshow and our increasingly popular global promotion, now into its third year.  This year’s prize of a VIP trip to London and the promise of a unique experience in the Shell Rimula Heavyweight Driving Challenge generated a record 69,000 entries,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Shell Rimula Global Brand Manager, Ms Seow Lee Ming, said that Shell continuously leveraged on its technology leadership to create products and services that could help fleet operators, heavy equipment users and truckers improve performance, increase efficiency and lower fuel consumption.

“Shell Rimula aims to be the trusted expert and partner to ambitious, hardworking truckers and fleet operators who want only the best for their business.  We are proud to say that Shell Rimula is the engine oil that works as hard as you,” she said.

She added, “At Shell, we also stand apart from the competition as a total lubricants solutions provider to fleet operators. We have a specially designed product and business solutions offering called “Driveline” that comprises a complete portfolio of technologically superior products to protect every driveline component against wear, acids and deposits: Shell Rimula heavy-duty diesel engine oils; Shell Spirax transmission, axle and gear oils; and Shell Gadus greases.”

Shell Rimula is committed to research and development, investing heavily to ensure its heavy-duty engine oils are tested in the world’s hardest working vehicles and driving conditions. It is these learnings that are then applied to benefit Shell Rimula customers and offer them the most advanced lubricant products available in the world for all heavy-duty vehicles.
