BMW has unveiled the all-new iX4, an all-electric SUV coupe based on its Neue Klasse architecture, combining a sportier design with next-generation electric powertrain technology, a revamped digital cockpit and advanced driver assistance systems.
The BMW iX4 will launch in March 2027 as the iX4 50 xDrive, followed shortly by the range-topping iX4 M60 xDrive.

The iX4 50 xDrive produces 463hp and 644Nm of torque from its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Its 112.2kWh usable battery supports charging at up to 400kW, with BMW claiming a maximum driving range of up to 689km. At a compatible 800V DC fast charger, charging from 10% to 80% takes around 21 minutes.

For those wanting more performance, the iX4 M60 xDrive delivers 603hp and 875Nm, allowing it to sprint from 0–100km/h in just 3.9 seconds. It also gets model-specific M styling, 21-inch wheels, adaptive M suspension and an electronically controlled M Sport differential.

Both versions feature BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, with the new electric motors and power electronics designed to improve efficiency. BMW says the latest drive system reduces energy losses by 40%, weight by 10% and manufacturing costs by 20% compared with the previous generation.
The iX4 also introduces bidirectional charging, allowing its battery to supply power beyond the vehicle itself, including compatible vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-home applications.

New look, smarter cabin
The iX4 adopts a sleek coupe roofline, muscular wheel arches and a more minimalist interpretation of BMW’s signature kidney grille. Aerodynamic enhancements help achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.23, while the standard M Sport package adds sportier exterior details and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system combines a 17.9-inch central touchscreen with BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects information across the lower windscreen. An optional 3D head-up display adds further driving and navigation information within the driver’s line of sight.
The BMW Operating System X also brings enhanced voice assistance incorporating Amazon Alexa+ AI technology, personalised user profiles and an expanding range of entertainment apps.

BMW’s latest driver assistance technology includes improved lane-keeping and collision-avoidance functions, along with hands-free highway driving through the Highway Assistant in supported markets. These remain Level 2 assistance systems, meaning drivers must continue to supervise the vehicle.
BMW has yet to announce Malaysian pricing or local availability. For now, the iX4’s March 2027 launch timeline applies to its initial market rollout, with further details to follow.
