Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), the wholly owned subsidiary of Proton, has officially opened bookings for the all-new Proton e.MAS 5. Introduced through a livestream event on 4 October 2025, the model is set to become Malaysia’s most affordable electric vehicle, with an estimated price ranging from RM60,000 to RM80,000.
The launch event, streamed across Proton e.MAS’ official channels and amplified by lifestyle influencers and automotive experts, drew more than 572,000 viewers nationwide.

Hosted by Boss James and Norreen Iman, the session featured interactive demonstrations, live Q&As, and insights from PRO-NET executives including Chief Executive Officer Zhang Qiang and Chief Brand Officer Salawati Mohd Yusoff. The broadcast highlighted the compact EV’s key features while revealing its estimated pricing, sparking immediate interest among prospective buyers.
The Proton e.MAS 5 is positioned as an accessible entry point into electric mobility, combining affordability with practicality. Customers can secure a booking for just RM99 and enjoy early bird offers, including a limited-edition Proton e.MAS Touch ‘n Go NFC card preloaded with RM100 and an additional RM500 rebate on the booking fee, limited to the first 5,000 customers. Bookings are available online through Proton e.MAS’ official website or at any of the 42 Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide.

Zhang Qiang described the e.MAS 5 as a vehicle designed to integrate seamlessly into the everyday lives of Malaysians. With rear-wheel drive dynamics, a practical driving range of up to 325 kilometres, and a focus on style and sustainability, it targets young families and first-time EV owners. According to Zhang, the model represents an important step in Proton’s ambition to accelerate the country’s transition to greener mobility.
The e.MAS 5 comes equipped with a suite of features that aim to deliver value beyond its price point. It is powered by a high-density battery that supports both home charging and fast DC charging, ensuring flexibility for different driving needs.

Connectivity is handled through Proton’s ATLAS operating system, which integrates smart functions and a live charging map to support convenient long-distance travel. Voice command functionality is available in both English and Malay, underlining the brand’s localisation efforts.
Design-wise, the compact electric SUV carries a dual-tone finish, LED lighting, and modern interior appointments such as a crystal gear selector. On the road, comfort and control are supported by a rear multi-link suspension, while safety is reinforced by advanced driver assistance systems, a 360-degree camera, and integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

By offering a combination of affordability, practicality, and technology, the Proton e.MAS 5 is expected to lower the entry barrier for Malaysians interested in switching to EVs. The strong response from the livestream launch suggests that demand will be significant as bookings progress. With its competitive pricing, wide feature set, and Proton’s nationwide support network, the e.MAS 5 is poised to become a popular choice in Malaysia’s growing EV market.
