New Volkswagen Arteon

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) today launched the new Arteon R-Line 4Motion to the public via an online launch. Unfortunately, no proper images were shared during the launch for us to share with you.

Priced at RM247,670 on the road without insurance, the new Arteon, which is Volkswagen’s flagship model in Malaysia and also the first model to feature the brand’s new logo here, comes with many enhancements on the exterior, interior, and also as far as the powertrain is concerned.

280 PS, 350 Nm, AWD

Under the hood lies a new 2.0L TSI turbocharged engine that produces 280PS and 350Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed wet clutch DSG direct shift gearbox, the Arteon R-Line can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.

Also available is the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system which was not available in the Arteon in Malaysia before, and the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) with up to 15 selectable increments and five different driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport and Individual.

On the exterior, the new Arteon comes with redesigned bumpers, new air intakes, and tweaked headlights that are equipped with Dynamic Cornering Lights.

Exterior updates

While the LED 3D rear taillights come with sequential turn signals, the Arteon also comes with All Weather Light for wider illumination to enhance visibility during bad weather and poor lighting.

Inside, we have new sports leather seats with the new R emblem embossed on the headrest, a new flat-bottom ‘R’ steering wheel, a redesigned dashboard with lesser buttons, and more touch-sensitive controls for the air-conditioning and whatnot.

Behind the steering wheel, the high-resolution 11.7” Digital Cockpit displays key information where it is needed.

Drivers have access to driving data with six optional screen views and over 30 combination options, including 2D and 3D navigation and a full 100% map view.

New Harman Kardon audio system

The audio system is also new, as the Dynaudio system has been replaced by a 700w 12-speaker Harman-Kardon premium audio system with a subwoofer and four different profiles for owners to choose from.

Adding to the whole package is ambient lighting, with a selection of 30 colours with adjustable intensity to choose from, and a 563-litre boot that can be opened hands-free.

Tweaked infotainment system

All of the driver features mentioned above are customisable and easily accessible via the 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment system which comes with voice and gesture control.

The system supports wireless App-Connect to Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The touchscreen also features configurable split screen views.
