After an endless amount of teasers and social media campaigns, Proton has finally launched the 2025 Proton X50, marking a significant update to Malaysia’s best-selling B-segment SUV.

Featuring refreshed styling, enhanced safety systems, smarter tech, and a new engine, the 2025 Proton X50 is offered in three variants with prices as mentioned below:
- X50 Executive – RM89,800
- X50 Premium – RM101,800
- X50 Flagship – RM113,300
On the exterior, the latest X50 now boasts a more aggressive and refined appearance, led by a redesigned front grille, updated bumpers, quad exhaust finishers, a sportier roof spoiler, and a fresh set of textured alloy wheels.

The SUV’s dual-tone exterior finishes add a dynamic visual appeal, while a new Teal Bayou Green colour joins the existing palette of Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, and Armour Silver.

Inside the cabin, the X50 has been comprehensively reworked for a more premium and driver-focused ambiance. Enhancements include soft-touch materials, a floating centre console, and column-mounted gear selectors inspired by high-end vehicles. The introduction of 72-colour ambient lighting adds a touch of sophistication to the SUV’s modern interior.

At the heart of the updated interior is a large 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that now supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A key highlight is the debut of Bahasa Melayu voice recognition – a first for PROTON – allowing users to interact with the system in their native language, enhancing accessibility and ease of use.

Further connectivity is offered through the new PROTON Link 2.0 mobile app, which provides remote engine start, climate control activation, vehicle status updates, and the ability to schedule service appointments, all via smartphone.

The new Proton X50 comes equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), now bolstered by a Rear Side Radar System (RSRS) for added situational awareness.

Improvements to the Auto Park Assist (APA) system and the inclusion of a 360-degree HD camera with an undercarriage view further support safe and stress-free manoeuvring. Like its predecessor, the X50 continues to carry a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

A notable change under the hood is the introduction of the i-GT 1.5 TD four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, it delivers 178 hp and 290 Nm of torque, slashing the 0–100 km/h sprint time to just 7.6 seconds — 0.3 seconds faster than before.

In addition to stronger performance, fuel efficiency has also improved by 4.7%, further positioning the X50 as a well-rounded performer in its class.

“With this major update, the All-New Proton X50 continues to lead the way in its segment,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON Edar. “By combining fresh styling, cutting-edge features, and a focus on performance and safety, we are confident that this new model will appeal to a wide audience – from tech-savvy urbanites to first-time car buyers seeking value and excitement behind the wheel.”

The 2025 Proton X50 represents a significant step forward for the brand, strengthening its foothold in the competitive SUV market while staying true to its mission of delivering accessible innovation to Malaysian consumers.
