DAF has launched new versions of its CF and XF 6×2 tractor units which include a rear-steering axle designed for applications requiring maximum manoeuvrability.
The three-axle FTN CF and XF tractor units have a 7.5-tonne steered trailing rear axle with single tyres mounted behind the 11.5-tonne drive axle, for tasks where there is little room to manoeuvre and when the lifting rearmost axle can’t be lifted due to a high pin load – such as when a crane is mounted behind the cab. DAF said its steered rearmost axle also reduces tyre scrub during tight manoeuvres, which improves mobility on slippery surfaces.
DAF is offering the new three-axle tractors as CF and XF with a choice of 10.8-litre MX-11 and 12.9-litre MX-13 PACCAR engines, rated at 396- 510 bhp.
The CF with rear-steer axle is available with the Day Cab, Sleeper Cab and Space Cab, while the XF variant can be spec’d with Space Cab and Super Space Cab.
