Chery Corporate Malaysia has joined forces with Touch ‘n Go Group in a strategic move to accelerate the adoption of RFID-enabled mobility in Malaysia.

The collaboration will see specially branded RFID tags bundled with selected new vehicles from Chery’s portfolio, including models under the Chery, Omoda Jaecoo, and iCAUR brands.

The initiative is aimed at delivering a smoother, more convenient ownership experience by ensuring drivers are ready for Malaysia’s increasingly digital tolling ecosystem from day one.

Since re-establishing its presence in Malaysia in 2023, Chery has rapidly expanded its footprint, delivering over 30,000 vehicles nationwide through a network of nearly 60 dealerships and service centres.

Meanwhile, Omoda Jaecoo has shown particularly strong momentum, recording close to 18,000 units in 2025 alone—marking triple-digit year-on-year growth and signalling rising consumer confidence in the brand’s offerings.

By integrating RFID tags at the point of sale, Chery is effectively removing a common pain point for new car owners—post-delivery setup for toll payments. More importantly, the move aligns with Malaysia’s long-term push towards barrier-free tolling systems.

RFID technology is designed with future scalability in mind, supporting both Single Lane Fast Flow (SLFF) and the upcoming Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) systems. This ensures compatibility with next-generation tolling infrastructure, positioning it as a key enabler in the country’s broader mobility transformation.

Men Lin Bo, Executive Vice President of Chery Corporate Malaysia, said the initiative reflects the company’s broader ambition to go beyond product innovation.

He noted that integrating RFID at the point of purchase allows customers to immediately tap into Malaysia’s toll network without additional setup, reinforcing the brand’s focus on convenience and smart ownership experiences.

Touch ’n Go Group CEO Praba Sangarajoo echoed the sentiment, highlighting that the partnership demonstrates growing alignment between the automotive and digital infrastructure sectors.

He added that RFID is no longer just a payment tool, but a critical component in shaping the future of mobility, enabling smoother, more efficient journeys for road users.

Beyond the initial rollout, both companies plan to collaborate on awareness campaigns to drive greater adoption and understanding of RFID technology among Malaysians.

With this partnership, Chery Corporate Malaysia and Touch ’n Go are not only aiming to enhance day-to-day convenience for drivers, but also to contribute to the development of a more connected, efficient, and future-ready mobility ecosystem in Malaysia.
