Tesla has brought its futuristic Cybercab autonomous vehicle to Malaysia, giving the public their first opportunity to get up close with the driverless two-seater through a nationwide showcase that began on 29 October 2026.
The limited-time Cybercab tour kicked off at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, where the vehicle was displayed from 29 October to 1 November. The showcase will continue at several locations across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang throughout November.

Unlike conventional vehicles, the Tesla Cybercab is designed specifically for fully autonomous transportation. It does away with traditional driving controls, including the steering wheel, pedals and even side mirrors, with the cabin designed around the idea of a mobile living room where passengers can simply sit back and enjoy the journey.
The Cybercab incorporates technology and features developed through Tesla’s existing vehicle platforms, including the Model 3, Model Y and Model Y L. These include connectivity between the vehicle and Tesla app, Full Self-Driving hardware and capabilities, personalised driver and passenger profiles, as well as over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
The idea is to make autonomous mobility more than just a vehicle that drives itself, with software, connectivity and personalisation playing an important role in the overall passenger experience.

Where to see the Tesla Cybercab in Malaysia
Following its appearance at Mid Valley Megamall, the Cybercab will continue its Malaysian tour at the following locations:
- Sunway Square Mall, Selangor: 3–9 November
- Pavilion Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur: 10–11 November
- Gurney Plaza, Penang: 13–22 November
Tesla will also organise guided Cybercab walkthrough sessions every hour at each location. Visitors will be taken through the vehicle’s exterior design, cabin layout and the technology behind its autonomous driving concept by Tesla specialists.

Participation is limited, and interested visitors can register for a session through Tesla Malaysia’s official event page.
Those who complete a guided walkthrough or take a test drive in the Tesla Model 3, Model Y or Model Y L during the tour will also receive a mystery gift, subject to availability.
Tesla continues expanding its Malaysian charging network
Alongside showcasing its vision for autonomous transportation, Tesla is continuing to expand its charging infrastructure in Malaysia.
The company currently operates 21 Supercharger locations with a total of 92 Superchargers, alongside 18 Destination Charging locations equipped with 78 Wall Connectors.
Another six charging locations are scheduled to open before the end of 2026, covering Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Seremban and Penang.

Tesla also says it has helped more than 13,000 Malaysian households install home charging solutions, making it easier for owners to charge their vehicles overnight and travel without depending entirely on public charging facilities.
Its charging network also supports cross-border journeys between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, with high-speed charging available along key regional routes. Cross-border warranty coverage, service access and connectivity are also part of Tesla’s regional ownership support.
Autonomous technology already features in Tesla’s current line-up
While the Cybercab represents Tesla’s longer-term vision for driverless transportation, some of the underlying technology is already present in vehicles currently sold in Malaysia.
The Model 3, Model Y and Model Y L share Tesla’s camera-based vision system and receive software improvements through OTA updates.
Visitors attending the Cybercab tour can also book a test drive of these models to experience Tesla’s existing technology firsthand.

The three models are also eligible for Tesla’s Refer and Earn programme. Existing owners can share their personal referral links with friends and family, earning rewards when a qualifying purchase is completed. These rewards can be redeemed for benefits including Supercharging credits and software upgrades.
For now, the Cybercab’s Malaysian appearance is a showcase rather than a local commercial launch announcement. Nevertheless, its arrival gives Malaysians an opportunity to see what Tesla believes could be the next step in personal transportation, where getting from one place to another no longer requires anyone behind the wheel.
