Proton X50 Sport Edition is Now Open for Booking, No pricing yet

Proton X50 Sport Edition

The all-new Proton X50 Sport Edition (SE) is now open for booking in Malaysia, marking six years since the X50 was first introduced here.

Based on the flagship X50 variant, the Sport Edition gets 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements, giving Proton’s B-segment SUV a sportier and more distinctive appearance.

The X50 SE continues with the 1.5-litre i-GT four-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 181 PS and 290 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Proton quotes a 0-100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds and fuel consumption of 6.1 litres/100km.

While Proton has opened bookings for the X50 SE, the company has not announced its selling price in the information provided.

15 exclusive enhancements

The biggest changes to the X50 SE are concentrated on its exterior, which receives a predominantly black treatment with contrasting red accents.

The Sport Edition comes with black front upper garnish, black front side port trim garnish, black lower bumper garnish and black rear side port trim garnish. These are complemented by black 18-inch alloy wheels.

Dedicated front, side and rear skirtings further distinguish the SE from the standard X50, while a Sport Edition emblem completes the exterior treatment.

Inside, Proton continues the black-and-red theme with red stitching on the steering wheel and seats. The front seats also feature Sport Edition embroidery, while Sport Edition detailing is added to the floor.

The SUV also gets TPE floor mats, which Proton says are lightweight, flexible and quick-drying, making them suited to Malaysia’s rainy and humid conditions.

Flagship X50 equipment retained

Since the X50 SE is based on the flagship variant, it retains the model’s existing technology and safety package.

Inside, the SUV features a 14.6-inch infotainment head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside Proton Link 2.0 and ‘Hi Proton’ voice command in Bahasa Melayu and English.

Safety equipment includes 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features, including Auto Park Assist and a 360-degree HD camera with 180-degree Transparent View.

The X50’s established performance credentials also remain unchanged, with the 1.5-litre turbo engine sending power through a seven-speed DCT.

Six years of the Proton X50

The Proton X50 was first launched in Malaysia on 27 October 2020 and has since recorded more than 177,000 units in cumulative domestic and export sales.

Proton says the X50 has remained the country’s best-selling B-segment SUV for five consecutive years and is its most successful SUV to date.
