Proton has officially launched the 2026 Proton X90, introducing a revised variant lineup and a number of key changes aimed at making the brand’s flagship SUV significantly more affordable than before.
While the overall design and three-row layout remain largely unchanged, Proton has simplified the X90 range and downgraded the equipment package to make the X90 more affordable for Malaysians looking for a competitively priced large family SUV.

- Proton X90 Lite – RM99,800
- Proton X90 Prime – RM109,800
- Proton X90 Prime X – RM115,800
What’s new?
Powering the updated model is a new 1.5-litre i-GT turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels. This marks a change from the previous X90, which produced 190 PS and 300 Nm.
Beyond the revised lineup, the updated X90 also gains several new standard features across the range. Among the highlights is the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eliminating the need for cables when connecting smartphones to the 12.3-inch infotainment system.
Practicality has also been improved with newly designed roof rails that can support up to 75 kg, allowing owners to easily mount cargo boxes, bicycles, or other outdoor equipment. Complementing the exterior updates is a new alloy wheel design, giving the SUV a slightly fresher look while retaining its overall familiar silhouette.

Compared with the earlier X90 lineup which consisted of Standard, Executive, Premium, and Flagship variants, the new model drops several features and technologies previously offered on higher variants.

Although some premium and advanced features appear to have been removed, the updated X90 still offers strong practicality with three-row seating, modern connectivity including wireless smartphone integration, and a refined turbocharged powertrain.
