Mitsubishi Triton Championship Edition Now in Malaysia from RM155,980

Mitsubishi Triton Championship Edition

Fresh off its victory at the Asia Cross Country Rally in 2025, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is translating motorsport success into a pair of limited-run pickup trucks. The new Triton Championship Edition brings rally-inspired styling and additional equipment to two variants of the brand’s latest pickup — the Triton Athlete and Triton AT Premium — offering buyers a more distinctive take on Mitsubishi’s workhorse.

Officially launching on 11 March 2026, the special editions celebrate Team Mitsubishi Ralliart’s winning performance in the gruelling cross-country rally while emphasising the durability and off-road credentials that underpin the production version of the Mitsubishi Triton.

In Malaysia, the Triton Championship Edition Athlete is priced at RM169,980, while the Triton Championship Edition AT Premium is priced at RM155,980, both on-the-road without insurance. Production is limited to 150 units for the Athlete and 120 units for the AT Premium, making them among the rarest versions of the current Triton available locally.

Triton Athlete Championship Edition

Positioned as the more premium offering, the Championship Edition Athlete is exclusively finished in Jet Black Mica and limited to 150 units.

Beyond the visual distinction, the upgrades are intended to reinforce both everyday usability and off-road capability. The exterior receives motorsport-inspired body decals and all-terrain tyres, giving the pickup a more purposeful stance while improving traction on loose surfaces.

Inside, Mitsubishi adds equipment aimed at convenience and visibility. The cabin features a 9-inch infotainment system and an All-Round Monitor, which significantly improves situational awareness when manoeuvring in tight spaces or off-road environments. Completing the theme are special championship-themed headrest covers, a subtle nod to the truck’s rally inspiration.

Under the bonnet, the Athlete retains the Triton’s 2.4-litre Hyperpower 4N16 clean diesel engine equipped with a two-stage turbocharging system. Output stands at 204PS (150kW) and 470Nm of torque, delivered at lower engine speeds to provide stronger pulling power and improved drivability both on-road and off-road.

The Athlete also features Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system, which allows drivers to switch between multiple drive configurations depending on terrain. These include 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4H (full-time four-wheel drive), 4HLc (locked centre differential) and 4LLc (low-range with locked differential).

Supporting this system are seven selectable drive modes, including Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock, enabling the pickup to adapt to a wide range of surfaces.

Triton AT Premium Championship Edition

For buyers seeking a sportier lifestyle image rather than outright off-road sophistication, the Triton AT Premium Championship Edition offers a different take on the rally theme.

Limited to 120 units and finished exclusively in White Diamond, this version focuses more heavily on exterior styling upgrades. Key additions include 18-inch black sports rims, a styling bar, front lower bumper garnish, and distinctive body decals. Like the Athlete, it also receives the special championship-themed headrest covers.

Mechanically, the AT Premium is powered by a slightly detuned version of the same 2.4-litre 4N16 turbo diesel engine, producing 184PS and 430Nm of torque. While not as powerful as the Athlete variant, it still delivers strong low-end torque suited for towing, hauling and occasional off-road use.

The AT Premium uses Mitsubishi’s Easy Select 4WD system, offering three selectable modes: 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4H (locked centre differential) and 4L for low-range driving.

Both Championship Edition models benefit from the Triton’s new ladder-frame chassis and revised suspension setup, designed to improve ride comfort and handling stability compared with previous generations.

On the Athlete variant, Mitsubishi also introduces Active Yaw Control (AYC), a system that enhances cornering stability by applying light braking to the inside front wheel. By redistributing torque to wheels with better grip, the system improves stability on slippery surfaces while also sharpening on-road handling.

Safety technology is another key highlight. The Athlete is equipped with Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing, which includes driver assistance systems such as Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Across the range, the Triton also features Active Stability & Traction Control, Hill Descent Control, and Hill Start Assist, systems designed to improve confidence when tackling steep gradients or uneven terrain.

Mitsubishi Triton Championship Edition

The Championship Edition is directly inspired by Team Mitsubishi Ralliart’s victory at the 2025 Asia Cross Country Rally, one of the toughest endurance rallies in the region.

Held in Thailand, the rally covered 2,316km, including more than 1,000km of competitive special stages. Driver Chayapon Yotha secured overall victory in a modified Triton race truck, while the team also claimed the Team Award based on the combined performance of multiple finishers.

By introducing the Championship Edition, Mitsubishi is essentially bridging the gap between its rally programme and showroom models — offering Malaysian buyers a production pickup that visually celebrates the brand’s off-road racing success.

Customers who book either Championship Edition model will also receive exclusive accessories, including a special key fob case and motorsport-themed sticker pack, adding another layer of collectability to these limited-run Tritons.
