Proton Tech Showcase 2025: e.MAS 7 PHEV Steals the Spotlight

Proton Tech Day

Proton today launched the Proton Technology Showcase at its Centre of Excellence (COE), bringing together its latest electric and internal combustion technologies. The event also features the full range of current Proton models and a series of presentations on present and future automotive trends.

The standout at PROTON’s Technology Showcase was the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV — the brand’s forthcoming plug-in hybrid SUV, expected to debut in 2026. This variant combines electric efficiency with hybrid flexibility, offering a strong alternative to both pure EVs and conventional petrol models.

At the heart of the e.MAS 7 PHEV is a hybrid powertrain pairing a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission. Together, the system delivers an output of 238 PS and 262 Nm, with the potential for even higher combined output under optimal conditions.

The vehicle’s battery pack is designed to provide approximately 130 km of pure electric range per charge, while the combined petrol and electric system allows for a total driving range exceeding 1,400 km.

The unveiling of the e.MAS 7 PHEV was part of a broader showcase of PROTON’s latest technologies at its Centre of Excellence. Key highlights included the GMA (Global Modular Architecture) platform, the Short Blade battery design, and the company’s latest ICE and hybrid powertrains. AR and AI-enabled connectivity demonstrations were also featured.

Alongside the new PHEV, the event displayed current PROTON models including the X50, e.MAS 5, and the all-new Saga, giving visitors a full view of the brand’s present capabilities and future direction.

The showcase also included live presentations and panel discussions on current and emerging automotive trends, as well as a live podcast taping that allowed attendees to interact with the hosts.

From the e.MAS 7 PHEV to the company’s advancements in connectivity, powertrains, and vehicle architecture, the event highlighted the brand’s focus on next-generation automotive solutions and its evolving direction toward a hybrid and electric future.
