Chery Group Records Strong July Sales, Achieves ‘Double 500’ Milestone

Chery

Chery Group has continued its upward trajectory in July 2025, delivering 224,439 vehicles globally — a 14.7% increase compared to the same month last year.

Of this total, new energy vehicles (NEVs) accounted for 65,357 units, marking a substantial 44.1% year-on-year jump. Exports also surged by 31.9% to 119,090 units, further strengthening Chery’s status as China’s leading automotive exporter.

The automaker’s performance is underpinned by its “Four Development Strategies” — regulatory compliance, product localisation, competitive enhancement, and market differentiation — which have driven significant growth in overseas markets such as Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, and Spain. Sales in Brazil now exceed 6,000 units per month, while Australia maintains a steady 3,000 units monthly.

From January to July 2025, Chery sold a record 1,484,563 vehicles, up 14.5% year-on-year. Exports for the same period reached 669,360 units, while NEV sales soared by 87.7% to 424,737 units — one of the fastest growth rates in the global automotive sector. The brand’s worldwide customer base has now surpassed 17.18 million, including over 5.17 million owners outside China.

In July, Chery achieved a historic “Double 500” milestone, becoming the fastest-rising automaker on both the Fortune Global 500 and Fortune China 500 lists. The company now ranks 233rd worldwide, up from 385th in 2024, and 59th in China, up from 100th last year. It is also the first Chinese car brand to export more than 5 million vehicles cumulatively.

Chery continues to invest in cutting-edge technologies, advancing in platform architecture, high-efficiency hybrid engines, electric drive systems, battery innovations, and intelligent vehicle interfaces. Its self-developed Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system stands as a key example of this progress.

The company’s dedication to safety is reflected in its Global Safety Challenge — a series of real-world extreme tests conducted across five countries. Trials in China included spiral rollovers, dual-vehicle collisions, and a dramatic seven-vehicle vertical stack.

In Indonesia, a CSH battery underwent a 54-hour seawater immersion test, while in Mexico it faced a rigorous battery scrape trial. The challenge will continue in Brazil and South Africa, aiming to push the boundaries of automotive safety before concluding later this year.
