Deliveries of the all-new PROTON X50 are now in full swing following its official debut on 24 July. In just five working days, 999 units were handed over to customers across Malaysia, rewarding early supporters who placed orders ahead of the model’s price announcement.
By the end of July, 2,000 units had already rolled off the production line, ensuring a steady flow of vehicles to sustain sales momentum in the weeks ahead.
According to Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar, the launch was part of a carefully orchestrated plan that ramped up public interest through a series of on-ground activations.

“We received overwhelming interest from car buyers, with 5,000 bookings recorded within 10 days before the price was revealed. By the end of July, total bookings had reached 8,000. Our strategy to build inventory before the launch allowed us to deliver nearly 1,000 units within days, while maintaining high production levels to minimise customer waiting time,” he explained.
Since its initial launch in October 2020, the PROTON X50 has become Malaysia’s best-selling B-segment SUV, with over 140,000 units sold. The latest model aims to widen its reach, particularly among younger buyers, through creative collaborations with local influencers, artists, and the pop group De Fam. The group performed a specially composed track at the launch and premiered its music video on the same day.
The company has also partnered with the Anugerah Melodi Terhangat (AMT) awards, an annual event celebrating the nation’s favourite entertainers. The show’s grand finale, scheduled for Sunday, 3 August at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, will feature the first-ever Anugerah Pilihan Proton X50 Superstar, where the winner will take home a brand-new X50.

“From working with De Fam to sponsoring the AMT awards and even unveiling the SUV at a pickleball venue, our marketing approach has been tailored to resonate with a younger demographic. These initiatives have kept the X50 in the spotlight during what is already a busy season for the automotive sector,” Zhang added.
The new X50 boasts refreshed exterior and interior styling, an improved Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a new infotainment unit with a larger 14.6-inch display, and—for the first time—Bahasa Melayu voice recognition.

Power comes from the new i-GT 1.5 TD engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, producing 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds while offering 4.7% better fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor.
Pricing starts at RM89,800 for the Executive variant, RM101,800 for the Premium, and RM113,300 for the Flagship, all excluding insurance. To sweeten the deal, the first 10,000 customers will receive a Gempak! Deal rebate of RM4,000.
