National carmaker Proton has announced that it is now accepting pre-launch bookings for the new 2025 Proton X70. Only the price, launch date, and the early-bird promotions remain a mystery but everything else have already been revealed, so let us dive right into it.
There will be four variants for customers to choose from, which are:
- X70 1.5 TGDI Standard
- X70 1.5 TGDI Executive
- X70 1.5 TGDI Premium
- X70 1.5 TGDI Premium X
As the variant names suggest, there is only one powertrain package across the board, which comprises the same 1.5-litre turbocharged TGDi three-cylinder engine as before, producing 177 PS and 255 Nm of torque. Paired with the engine is an improved 7-speed DCT which sends power exclusively to the front wheels on all variants. Yes, you read that right – no more AWD system.
On the exterior, the X70 now comes with a completely redesigned front-end, featuring a new “diamond” grille versus the outgoing Ethereal Bow grille, a new hood, a new bumper, as well as a pair of new LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The wheel design is also new.
Inside, the main highlight is the addition of the new 12.3” infotainment head unit equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The PROTON Link app has also been updated with the extended capability to remotely start the engine and to cool down the vehicle.
Also new are the Nappa leather seats in stone grey colour (versus the outgoing brown), and the multicolour rhythmic ambient light system with 72 colours.
Other new features include a new steering wheel, Piano Black finishing on the instrument panel, and a redesigned LCD meter combination with new graphics. In addition, Proton has also added a new powered tailgate with “Nearby Auto Open” function which makes life easier for owners who want to load things into the boot.
Nearly six years after it pioneered the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for premium C-segment SUVs, the 2025 PROTON X70 now comes with ADAS level 2 system for improved safety.
Speaking of safety, the 2025 Proton X70 now comes with Walk Away Auto Lock, a new 360-degree camera with 3D display, as well as a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Meanwhile the list of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems include:

As for the list of standard features, the entry-level X70 1.5 TGDI Standard comes with:

Moving up the product range, the X70 1.5 TGDI Executive gets additional features such as:

The higher-spec X70 1.5 TGDI Premium on the other hand, gets even more features like:

Last but not the least, the flagship X70 1.5 TGDI Premium X variant gets a Panoramic Sunroof on top of all the features mentioned above.
While the launch date of the X70 is yet to be announced, the folks at Proton also announced that the 2025 Proton X70 will have an exciting early bird package to award the customers for their trust and support.
