On the exterior, the Dynamic Shield front face now features a newly adopted horizontal bumper and a three-dimensional skid plate. T-shaped headlights are incorporated as a new generation headlight unit shape, and for the higher trim levels, LED type is used to secure good forward visibility.
The rear design produces a wide and stable appearance with a new light shape and a horizontally styled rear spoiler and bumper. For the rear combination lights, T-shaped tail lights while LED stop lights are added to the taillights and back lights to improve visibility at night.
The XPANDER also comes with 17-inch wheels and tires which are newly equipped with round-rim type alloy wheels featuring a robust and progressive machine-finished two-tone design.
The interior on the other hand, features a horizontally sculpted instrument panel that provides a feeling of spaciousness. The redesigned steering wheel is given a sporty and powerful look, while the grip size and shape are restyled to secure an easy and confident grip for the driver.
The updated XPANDER’s driver’s comfort is leading in its class thanks to the stability offered which boasts best-in-class ground clearance of 225mm, raised by 20mm over the previous XPANDER to provide better ability on rougher or flooded roads, and also higher eye-point and clear visibility for the driver.
Power still comes from the same 1.5-litre MIVEC petrol that has been carried over lock, stock, and barrel, producing 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Paired with the engine is also the same 4-speed automatic gearbox as before.
An electric parking brake is newly added to the Xpander Plus, enabling reliable stopping simply by operating a switch. In addition, the new brake auto-hold function allows the vehicle to continue the stopped state even when the driver takes their foot off the brake pedal when waiting for a traffic light or stopping in traffic jams, thereby reducing the burden on the driver and enhancing comfort.
For added peace-of-mind driving, the Xpander Plus also adds on All Round Monitor (ARM) and a front & rear Driving Video Recorder (DVR), a first in its class. The rear DVR captures every moment or incident in front of the vehicle while on the move.
Moreover, the quality of the interior space for the higher-trim XPANDER is upgraded by using soft pads with synthetic leather and real stitching for the armrest and door trim. Other new features include an air conditioning panel with a liquid crystal display that makes it easy to check the fan level and temperature settings at a glance and a high contrast meter display with a new graphic design.
With a luggage capacity of 495L when the third-row seats are folded, three passengers can sit comfortably on the wide second-row seat. The vehicle also adopts a tumbling system for folding the second-row seats to make access to the back row easier.
The seatbacks in the second row (60:40 split) and third row (50:50 split) can be folded down with a simple operation to arrange the seats and luggage in various combinations. For really large loads, the second and third-row seats can be folded down to create a large flat storage area without bumps or gaps. The luggage capacity is 495 litres when the third-row seats are folded.
That being said, the first 500 customers who book and register the Xpander via the Mitsubishi Online Showroom will receive a Naturehike Camping Wagon worth RM400. The updated Mitsubishi Xpander also comes with 5-Year warranty with unlimited mileage, for both variants.
