Nissan recently unveiled the all-new Nissan Townstar, Interstar, and Primastar vans in Europe.
While the Townstar will replace the NV250 and e-NV200 in the line-up, the Interstar and Primastar will replace the outgoing NV400 and NV300 respectively, filling out the streamlined LCV model offerings.
Built on the Alliance CMF-C platform, the all-new Townstar has been built from the ground up with quality and functionality in mind. It will bear the new Nissan brand logo, making it the first European model to be produced with it.
The fully electric all-new Townstar will reflect aesthetic cues taken from the Nissan Ariya, including slim signature LED headlamps and an aerodynamic front shield integrating an intricate Kumiko pattern and a fresh V-motion design.
Likewise, the petrol version of the all-new Townstar stands out with a sharp and dynamic look, thanks to its interlock-patterned grille.
Air curtains integrated into the front fascia optimize airflow around the front bumper and front wheels, reducing drag and fuel consumption.
From refined seat and door trims to a modern centre console and instrument panel finish, the passenger version of the all-new Townstar’s cabin welcomes customers with passenger-car-like comfort.
The van version of the Townstar has been developed to perfectly meet the needs of customers who are looking for versatility, convenience, and cargo space.
Building on the success of the Nissan e-NV200, a pioneer and leader in the electric LCV market, the fully electric version of the all-new Townstar, available in van and passenger versions, is optimized to meet customer needs.
With a 44 kWh battery featuring an intelligent energy management system and battery thermal cooling, the electric model will offer a range of 285 km and 245 Nm of torque.
Coupled with advanced technologies and low running costs, the fully electric model offers an efficient, sustainable mobility solution.
A refined petrol engine option will be also available in van and passenger versions.
The 1.3-litre unit is fully compliant with the latest Euro 6d-Full emissions regulations and produces 130 PS and 240 Nm of torque.
As an important vehicle in Nissan’s LCV line-up in the European market, the Townstar is the latest to be introduced under the Nissan NEXT transformation plan, which prioritizes sustainable growth and profitability across the company’s global operations.
Launch timing of the all-new Townstar (both petrol and EV versions) to be disclosed at a later date.
Designed to support a variety of transportation needs, the all-new Townstar introduces more than 20 technology features, including a broad range of safety- and advanced driver-assistance features such as Trailer Sway Control.
The fully electric all-new Townstar offers the innovative ProPILOT advanced driver assistance system, which helps the driver to keep the vehicle centered in a lane during highway driving, even around sweeping corners.
Convenient connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless phone charging will be available across the line-up, with the introduction of additional connected services at the time of the electric Townstar launch.
Nissan has unveiled two new limited edition versions of the Nissan GT-R T-Spec, destined for the Japanese market.
The two limited grades are the the GT-R Premium Edition T-spec and GT-R Track Edition Engineered by NISMO T-spec. All are scheduled to go on sale in Japan in the second half of October.
The two T-spec limited editions are specially equipped with exclusive carbon ceramic brakes, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, an exclusive engine cover, and an exclusive badge for front and rear.
Only 100 units
A total of 100 units of the limited-edition models are planned for sale, with successful purchasers selected by lot.
Two new body colors, Midnight Purple and Millennium Jade, have been added to the T-spec options.
Midnight Purple is an advanced version of the colour used on previous generations of GT-Rs and is inspired by colour-shifting of the aurora borealis. Meanwhile, the Millennium Jade colour exudes sophistication and conveys a quiet, yet powerful presence.
The Nissan GT-R T-Spec
According to Nissan, the name T-spec represents the GT-R’s philosophy of leading and shaping the times and is inspired by the words trend and traction. We have no idea what that means. Do you?
The Nissan GT-R Premium Edition T-spec also has an exclusive interior design, Rays forged alloy wheels (bronze), and suspension that takes advantage of weight reductions below the springs.
An expanded wheel-rim width has increased tire rigidity, enabling smooth and sensitive handling.
Developed with a focus on enhanced driving performance, the GT-R Track Edition engineered by NISMO T-spec is specially equipped with an exclusive carbon-fiber roof and trunk lid.
The GT-R Track Edition engineered by NISMO is a grade based on the standard model enhanced with NISMO technology.
All variants are powered by the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo VR38DETT engine which is paired with the GT-R GR6 six-speed dual clutch transmission, and an all-wheel drive system.
Together, the powertrain package produces 565 hp and 633 Nm of maximum torque, enabling the GT-R to accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in a claimed 3.3 seconds, while clocking a top speed of 330 km/h.
Nissan launched the new Nissan Terra premium SUV in Thailand yesterday, featuring upgraded safety, entertainment, and luxury features.
Launched digitally on Nissan’s Facebook page and website, the New Terra celebrated its unveiling with a warm, family-focused launch video featuring Nissan Thailand’s President, Isao Sekiguchi, making a personal delivery of the very first new Nissan Terra to a family in Bangkok.
Featuring Nissan’s ‘unbreakable’ vehicle frame design philosophy, the new Terra’s exterior features C-shaped quad LED signature headlamps, a totally redesigned rear, a generous dose of chrome and silver accents, and 18-inch alloy rims.
Inside, the seats are more comfortable, thanks to the upgrades to the seat cushions and backrest. The space between the passenger compartment and rear luggage is fully adjustable through its special design, allowing for the second and third rows to be reconfigured into a variety of styles.
Powering the new Nissan Terra is a 2.3-litre twin-turbo YS23DDTT diesel engine producing 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque, which is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
It also features a 4×4 (4WD) system that allows the driver to easily change from two-wheel drive (2H) to four-wheel drive mode with the flick of a rotor switch near the SUV’s center console.
Safety features include Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor (equipped with Moving Object Detection) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The Intelligent Driver Alertness serves as another layer of precaution, especially helpful during long distance journeys.
Other standard features include a Bose Premium Audio system, front and side Acoustic Glass, NissanConnect smartphone connectivity via Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 9-inch touch screen, Voice Recognition, an 11-inch screen with HDMI or Smart TV stick connectivity, five USB ports (Type A and C), wireless charging, and an electronic tailgate with Auto Lift Gate sensor for added convenience.
That being said, the new Nissan Terra is available in four colours – White Pearl, Brilliant Silver, Black Star, and Twilight Gray.
Whether the Terra will be sold in Malaysia remains unknown, and our guess is that it will not make it here as the model was never sold in our market.
The all-new seventh-generation Nissan Z has finally made its global debut, representing more than 50 years of ongoing passion and dedication towards driving excitement.
Powering the all-new Z is 3.0-liter V6 twin turbo engine which produces 405 PS and 475 Nm of torque. Paired to the engine is either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
Also part of the package is advanced launch assist control system, and a carbon-fiber composite drive shaft and Downshift Rev Matching in the manual variant.
While both front and rear dampers use a new monotube shock absorber design with a larger diameter than the outgoing 370Z, the front double-wishbone aluminium suspension features new geometry, including caster angle which has been increased, aiding in straight line stability.
Two drive modes are offered with the automatic transmission – Standard and Sport.
Two driving modes
While the Standard mode is best suited for commuting and long highway drives for a pleasant, stress-free drive, Sport mode unlocks the Z’s performance potential, offering faster acceleration control, a sports-mode steering profile, active sound enhancement, and sports-mode vehicle dynamic control.
The Z Performance grade models on the other hand, utilize a mechanical clutch-type limited-slip differential.
For the exterior, the new Z takes on a traditional rear-wheel-drive sports car design, with a long hood, lower rear stance and a silhouette that pays homage to the first-generation Z.
The designers utilized the latest technologies to streamline the design, and incorporated LED lighting to give dimension without unnecessary elements.
The LED headlights have two half-circles that hark back to the Japan market-only Fairlady 240ZG of the 70s, which fit naturally with the new Z’s identity.
The link to the original Z is most striking when viewing the all-new Z from the side. The roofline flows from the nose to the squared-off rear to create a distinctive first-generation Z profile, whose rear edge was slightly lower than the front fender height giving the Z its unique posture.
The signature transition from the rear quarter glass to the low-slung position of the rear tail adds to the effect.
Tribute to predecessors
The rear combination lamps incorporate modern technology into the styling reminiscent of the Z32 300ZX, including new 3-D signature LED taillights that are distinctly Z.
The Z Performance grade features a rear spoiler that creates positive pressure where the rear hatch and spoiler meet, mitigating rear lift.
The front spoiler takes advantage of knowledge gained through Nissan GT-R development to utilize negative pressure zones.
The all-new Z is available in three monotone exterior colors and six two-tone exterior colors including two new colors, Seiran Blue and Ikazuchi Yellow – both with a Super Black roof.
Inside, the cabin seamlessly blends modern technology with vintage Z touches. The centre stack takes inspiration from previous generations, with three analogue pod gauges on the instrument panel, 8.0-inch touchscreen audio display in the center and climate control switches near the shifter.
The interior design team also sought advice from professional motorsports legends, such as Nissan Super GT500 driver Tsugio Matsuda, to give the Z an ideal sports car cabin for various driving situations.
This can be seen in the instrumentation, with all vital information found in the 12.3-inch customizable digital meter display and arranged to help the driver grasp it at a glance, such as the redline shift point at the 12 o’clock position. The 12.3-inch TFT meter display is all-new with three display modes to suit driver preference.
The new Z’s center stack uses a three-zone approach, placing three analog pod gauges on the instrument panel (boost, turbo speed, volt) within the driver’s eyesight. Both the manual and automatic shift levers are new, each of them custom-engineered for optimized grip and comfort.
The new, deep spoke steering wheel offers the driver quick access controls without losing the vintage aesthetic.
The design of the seats utilizes know-how from the GT-R’s development to enhance both hold and fit.
The expanded use of suede on the seatback suppresses initial lateral shake on the body, creating more comfortable drives, as well as reducing body movement when the vehicle is aggressively cornering.
Three interior color environments are available – Graphite, Red and Blue. The limited edition Proto Spec features yellow accents throughout the cabin, including stitching on the instrument panel. The seats feature layered seat material to create depth and a gradation effect.
A limited edition Nissan Z Proto Spec is also offered featuring exclusive yellow-colored brake calipers with Z logo, bronze-colored aluminum-alloy wheels, exclusive leather-appointed seats with yellow accents and yellow interior stitching throughout. Production of the Nissan Z Proto Spec is limited to 240 units.
Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad (TCMH) has recently launched its first ever TC COVID-19 Vaccination Programme for its employees nationwide, enjoining the national efforts in making the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) a success.
With the increasing daily number of administered COVID-19 vaccine doses nationwide, the Group has initiated engagements under various vaccination programmes including the Public-Private Partnership COVID-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (PIKAS), a vaccination programme by MITI for employees in the manufacturing sector.
70% and counting
To-date, 70 percent of all Tan Chong employees nationwide have had the vaccine (either 1 or 2 doses) and also confirmed appointments, thus TC COVID-19 Vaccination Programme will ensure the rest of its employees and family members to be vaccinated as an important step towards achieving COVID-19 herd immunity and national economic recovery.
This programme will be rolled out beginning August 2021 via local clinics or at Tan Chong’s premises.
“In our shared fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our colleagues, customers and surrounding communities remain our top priority. The Group has been regularly communicating the importance to maintain and observe health and safety protocols to avoid any resurgence of the virus.”
100% vaccination rate by September
“With this vaccination programme, we hope to achieve a fully vaccinated workforce by the end of September and hence protecting them so that they can return to work safely when permitted,” said Mr Daniel Ho, Group Chief Executive Officer of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad.
The continuous efforts are to complement the new immunisation target set by the government, for all adults in Malaysia to be fully vaccinated by October 2021. Despite the challenges, the Group remains committed to building resilience and overcoming adversity in collaboration with our stakeholders.
TCMH Group’s current principal activities are assembly and distribution of motor vehicles and commercial vehicles, provision of after-sales services and spare parts, education, trading, property investments and motor related financial services such as hire purchase financing, insurance agency and leasing – both locally and abroad.

Remember the Nissan Frontier pickup truck we had like a decade ago? Nissan has officially started production of the latest all-new 2022 version of the Frontier at its Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant in the United States.
Unfortunately, it is not likely to come here as it is destined only for the Americas right now. Plus, we already have the Navara in this part of the world.
True to the past
Coming back to the Frontier, Nissan says that the model stays true to its past while addressing modern mid-size truck buyer needs.
Featuring a new and rugged exterior design with a powerful front end, a massive grille, and a chiseled hood framed by new precision interlocking headlights, the Frontier certainly looks bad ass.
As the “right-sized” pickup for a workweek in the city or weekend of off-road adventures, every Frontier – 4×2 or 4×4 – comes equipped with a standard 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 engine with best-in-class 310 horsepower.
3.9 V6, 9-speed Auto
The engine is matched to a 9-speed automatic transmission designed to maximize efficiency and provide strong acceleration.
Frontier’s modern, utility-centric interior includes a standard, largest-in-class 7-inch Advanced Driver Assist Display and an available, largest-in-class 9-inch color touchscreen.
Standard technology includes Apple CarPlay and Android AutoTM, with WiFi and wireless charging available. Nissan Safety Shield 360 is available on every trim.
The all-new Frontier also gives Nissan one of the freshest lineups in the United States, alongside the Nissan Rogue, Pathfinder, Armada, Kicks and a full array of sedans and crossovers.
That being said, the Frontier has been built at Nissan Canton since 2012, with its engine produced at Nissan Decherd Powertrain Plant in Decherd, Tennessee.
Nissan has deployed enhanced applications of collaborative robot (or cobot) technology to assemble the all-new Frontier.
Made by robots
These robots effectively support process factory automation, resulting in improved safety performance and less strain on workers.
The technology is being used to assist with a number of jobs to ensure repetitive tasks are done the same way every time, increasing overall operational efficiency and vehicle quality for customers.
“Before integrating more cobot technology into our process, workers were tied to their stations, reducing valuable time that could be used to work directly on the vehicle,” said Orlando Valree, director, production engineering and new model quality, Nissan Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant.
“Human touch in the manufacturing process remains a critical component of high-quality output, and this technology helps us achieve that.”
Nissan recently launched the all-new Note Aura compact car in Japan, with sales planned to start there in a couple of months.
The all-new Note Aura comes exclusively with Nissan’s e-POWER electrified powertrain, a key part of the company’s electrification strategy under the Nissan NEXT global business transformation plan.
The all-new vehicle inherits the comfort and advanced safety technologies of the Note e-POWER launched last year, with added premium furnishings and system enhancements.
The exterior features an elaborately sculpted front grille, and an elongated, curved roofline. The rear fenders and new rear bumper convey a wide stance and low centre of gravity, giving the vehicle a robust presence.
The LED combination lamps that illuminate as a beam of light across the rear of the vehicle create an advanced and individualistic impression.
The front facia V-motion lighting combines signature LED position lamps, accent lamps, and sequential turn lamps, giving a premium look. The slim and sleek headlamps also have adaptive LED functions, combining both quality and functionality.
The 17-inch lightweight aluminum wheels feature gunmetal resin inserts that create a stylish, aerodynamic design.
The model comes with 14 available body color variations, with five two-tone combinations, including Garnet Red with Super Black, and Midnight Black with Sunrise Copper.
The interior Zero Gravity seats come in two variations; Herringbone patterned tweed-like fabric combined with synthetic leather or high-quality genuine leather with specially designed pleating to provide seating grip.
The lower instrument panel and centre console features a wood-grain finish while door trims, front armrests and the instrument panel are all finished in tweed-like fabric.
A premium audio system has been developed together with Bose for a high-quality onboard experience.
Optional Bose Personal Plus audio
The optional Bose Personal Plus sound system speakers are placed in the front passenger headrests, providing a premium acoustic experience with the depth and breadth of sound unique to Bose and its advanced signal processing technology.
Noise dampening in the roof, doors, and front door glass help ensure a high level of cabin quietness and comfort on the road.
Up to 300 Nm of torque
For the Note Aura, the second-generation e-POWER electrified powertrain has been enhanced to provide maximum system output of 100 kW and maximum torque of 300 Nm.
This delivers more powerful acceleration and an even smoother driving experience from the 100% electric motor driven system.
