“We are pleased to see Malaysians take a bold step in choosing sustainable mobility as part of their lifestyle, which underlines our belief that the future is in fact electric.”
“We have long committed to shape the future of mobility in the country, and we will confidently continue to cultivate the shift towards electromobility further by accelerating the availability of charging infrastructures in Malaysia and rapidly expanding the BMW i dealer network in key cities nationwide,” said Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.
Powered by the fifth generation BMW eDrive technology that comprises two electric motors, the iX xDrive40 is capable of kicking out 326 PS and 630 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from naught to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds while hitting a top speed of 200 km/h.
On the exterior, the iX is about the same size as the current X5, stands as tall as the X6, and features the same wheel dimensions as the X7. At the centre of the front end stands the new controversial kidney grille.
Inside, the cabin is designed to be as minimalist as possible, with an exceptionally large panoramic glass roof, no centre tunnel, and a centre console crafted to look like a piece of furniture.
The displays and controls are all stripped down to the essentials. The model will also feature the latest version of the BMW iDrive system.
Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant features are standard for the iX xDrive40, whereas the Sport variants arrive with the Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Plus. The Sport variants are also exclusively equipped with Harman Kardon surround sound systems.
Additionally, the vehicle will also feature the very first BMW IconicSounds Electric – developed in collaboration with world-famous composer and Academy Awards winner, Hans Zimmer.
