PROTON has kicked off 2026 by strengthening its export push with the launch of a new 100 kW variant of the Proton e.MAS 7 at the Singapore Motorshow.
Introduced less than six months after the brand’s return to Singapore, the new variant expands PROTON’s electric vehicle (EV) range and builds on the strong performance of the e.MAS 7, which was Malaysia’s best-selling EV in 2025.
Since re-entering Singapore in 2025, PROTON has steadily expanded its presence by growing the e.MAS model line-up. The positive response to the e.MAS 7 160 kW variant, which has seen strong demand and limited remaining stock, created a solid platform for the introduction of a lower-powered option designed to better suit local market conditions.

The new 100 kW variant has been developed specifically for export markets, allowing the e.MAS 7 to qualify for Singapore’s more affordable Category A Certificate of Entitlement (COE).
Despite the lower output, the model retains its key strengths in performance, safety and everyday usability, helping to make electric mobility more accessible to a wider audience. This strategy also supports PROTON’s long-term goal of achieving annual sales of 330,000 units by 2030, with export markets contributing 30 percent of total volume.
The Proton e.MAS 7 is positioned as a well-rounded EV, combining modern design, strong safety credentials and intelligent technology. It is backed by a growing 3S and 4S service network to provide reassurance for customers transitioning to electric vehicles.
The model also boasts an ASEAN NCAP score of 92.57 points, the highest in its segment, reinforcing the credibility of the e.MAS brand and laying the groundwork for future models such as the upcoming Proton e.MAS 5.

Strong domestic demand in Malaysia has further boosted confidence in the e.MAS range as a key driver of PROTON’s overseas expansion. In 2025, PROTON exported a total of 6,000 vehicles, with export sales continuing to grow rapidly.
While the e.MAS 7 ranked as the brand’s third most popular export model, its introduction was instrumental in reopening markets like Singapore, where EVs offer a clear cost advantage over traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.
According to Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Chief Executive Officer of Proton International Corporation, the 100 kW variant reflects PROTON’s ability to adapt to different regulatory and market requirements.

He added that the model could be introduced to other markets if demand arises, as PROTON looks to expand its export footprint in 2026 by strengthening existing markets, entering new ones, and rolling out both ICE and EV models.
The Proton e.MAS 7 100 kW variant is on display at the Singapore Motorshow from 8 to 11 January. Customers who place a booking during the event will enjoy a special introductory rebate of SGD 6,000.
