MINI Malaysia has introduced two exclusive special edition models that pay homage to the brand’s rich motorsport legacy — the MINI 1965 Victory Edition and the MINI John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition.
Unveiled in Kuala Lumpur, both models blend historical racing DNA with modern engineering, targeting drivers who value performance with a story behind it.
According to Benjamin Nagel, MINI’s racing pedigree continues to shape its identity today, with these editions serving as rolling tributes to defining milestones — from rally dominance to track-focused performance benchmarks.
MINI 1965 Victory Edition (From RM230,888)
The MINI 1965 Victory Edition draws direct inspiration from the marque’s historic win at the Monte Carlo Rally, where Timo Mäkinen piloted the classic Mini Cooper S to victory in 1965. Reimagined for today, this special edition is based on the all-electric MINI John Cooper Works, effectively bridging past and future.
Visually, the model stands out with a bold Chili Red exterior contrasted by a white bonnet-to-rear stripe, echoing classic rally liveries. The iconic “52” race number is prominently displayed, alongside subtle “1965” badging on the C-pillars. It rides on 18-inch JCW Mastery Spoke wheels in black, complete with floating hubs for added visual drama.
Inside, the cabin continues the motorsport narrative with an anthracite and red JCW-themed cockpit, highlighted by “1965” insignia on key touchpoints and a bespoke key cap featuring the historic race number.
Performance comes from an all-electric powertrain producing 190 kW (258 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, delivering instant acceleration in line with modern EV expectations. MINI John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition (From RM333,888)
For those seeking a more traditional performance experience, the MINI John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition channels the spirit of the 2021 GP model — widely regarded as the fastest road-going MINI ever built.
Based on the MINI John Cooper Works, this edition features a Racing Grey metallic finish paired with an aggressive aerodynamic package. The full JCW Aero Kit includes a prominent rear spoiler, along with front, side, and rear winglets that reinforce its track-ready stance.
Distinctive GP-inspired graphics are applied across the bonnet, sides, and C-pillars, while exclusive entry sills and interior detailing further emphasise its motorsport roots. The cabin also gets bespoke floor mats, unique wheel hub caps, and a GP-themed key cap to complete the package.
Under the bonnet lies a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine delivering 170 kW (231 hp) and 380 Nm of torque — ensuring strong performance both on the road and during spirited driving sessions.
