GGR Unveils Pantera R1 and R2 Electric Motorcycle Prototypes

GGR Legacy (M) Sdn Bhd, also known as GGR Motor, has revealed its latest electric motorcycle prototypes, the Pantera R1 and Pantera R2. These are Malaysia’s first locally designed and assembled long-range electric motorcycles, capable of travelling up to 300 kilometres on a full charge.

The Pantera R1 and R2 were developed to showcase local engineering and innovation, designed to match the performance and reliability of international EV products. The launch took place during the MARA Automotive Ecosystem (MATEC 2025) event in Bukit Jalil and was officiated by Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang. Also present were MARA Chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and several partners and industry collaborators, including local celebrities Johan and Ajak Shiro.

Both motorcycles are powered by a 5,000W hub motor paired with a Votol Controller, known for its high energy efficiency. The Pantera series can reach top speeds between 110 and 150 km/h and offers near-zero maintenance since they do not require oil changes or engine servicing.

Each motorcycle is equipped with two 73.8V / 116Ah batteries that support fast charging, enabling a full charge within 30 minutes per battery. The flexible battery system allows users to either charge at home or swap batteries at designated stations.

GGR Motor is positioning the Pantera range as a cost-effective and practical solution for e-hailing riders and micro-entrepreneurs. The company estimates that switching to electric motorcycles could reduce daily operating costs by up to 60 percent for delivery and ride-hailing riders.

To improve accessibility, GGR Motor will introduce easy financing schemes with low deposits and flexible monthly instalments. While official prices have not been announced, the company aims to price the models competitively against mid-range petrol motorcycles.

The launch will take place in two phases. Between October and December 2025, the company will focus on developing a nationwide network of battery swap and charging stations. From January 2026 onwards, pre-orders will open for e-hailing riders and the public. Sales will begin only after the supporting infrastructure is ready to ensure users can charge or swap batteries conveniently.

To expand the charging and swapping network, GGR Motor is seeking partnerships with corporate and retail chains such as convenience stores, cafes, and fuel stations. The company plans to introduce two types of facilities — swap stations for battery exchanges and charging stations compatible with standard electric car chargers, offering greater flexibility to users.

A new “Subscription Swap Station” business model will also be introduced, allowing local entrepreneurs to operate swap stations under the GGR brand and earn commissions from each battery exchange.

The company aims to create a nationwide EV ecosystem through public-private partnerships. By involving more businesses in hosting swap and charging stations, GGR Motor hopes to accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards electric mobility.

GGR Motor’s previous model, the Lion G1, achieved strong market success with over 8,000 units sold, proving local demand for affordable EV motorcycles. Building on this momentum, the Pantera R1 and R2 will strengthen GGR’s position as one of Malaysia’s leading EV manufacturers.

Spare parts and aftersales support for customers in the Klang Valley will be available through the GGR Motor Supermarket in Sungai Penchala, while PMH Motor Sdn Bhd in Alor Setar has been appointed as the master dealer for the northern region.

GGR is also collaborating with local celebrities, including Farid Kamil, Johan, and Ajak Shiro, who are involved in operating GGR-branded outlets under the GGR X partnership programme. The company plans to open more dealership opportunities in 2026 for entrepreneurs interested in distributing its EV motorcycles.

Looking ahead, GGR Motor aims to expand into regional export markets once Malaysia’s domestic EV ecosystem is well established. The company is also planning additional model launches, which will coincide with the rollout of supporting infrastructure to ensure a seamless ownership experience.
