Ducati Diavel V4 in Malaysia: Here’s all you need to know

Ducati Malaysia recently took the wraps off the all-new Diavel V4, which is now available for sale for RM178,900.

As its name suggests, the Diavel V4 is powered by Ducati’s 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine which produces 168 hp and 126 Nm of torque. In case you didn’t know, this is the same engine that is powering the Multistrada V4 as well as the Streetfighter V4, which means that the Diavel V4’s service interval is also 60,000 km like its stablemates.

The Diavel V4 has a kerb weight of 223 kg, which is 13 kg lighter than the outgoing Diavel 1260 S, thanks to the lightness of the V4 Granturismo and specific actions to many of its components. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, the Diavel V4’s braking system is almost supersport-like, with 330 mm discs and Brembo Stylema calipers.

While seat height is rated at 790 mm from the ground, the central footpegs and high handlebars are set 20 mm closer to the rider than on the Diavel 1260, making the V4 even more comfortable than before. Comfort also improves substantially on long rides thanks to the rear suspension, which increases in travel by 15 mm, and especially to the wide, well-profiled seat.

The Diavel V4 also offers three Power Modes and four Riding Modes: Sport, Touring, Urban and the new Wet , designed for low-grip surfaces. The Riding Modes allow the rider to adapt the engine delivery and the intervention of the riding aid systems (Ducati Traction Control in Cornering version, ABS Cornering and Ducati Wheelie Control).

While Cruise Control makes highway transfers more relaxed, Launch Control provides scorching starts and Ducati Quick Shift up/down makes shifting in general less fatiguing and more effective in sport riding.

The rider can manage all the electronic systems through backlit controls on the handlebars and the new 5-inch color TFT dashboard, which also offers Bluetooth connectivity to pair the smartphone and use it for calls, text messages and music, or use the Turn-by-turn navigation system (available as an accessory) via the Ducati Link App.

In terms of the design, the Diavel V4 draws inspiration from muscle cars, which is evident through the muscular, broad “shoulders” of the bike and the radical looking four-exits exhaust.

While the front and rear light clusters and turn signals are full-LED, the front DRL changes shape, with a double-C profile that evolves from the previous stylistic feature.

The rear light cluster on the other hand consists of a matrix of punctiform LEDs positioned under the tail, which is complemented by turn signals that are integrated into the handlebars, in front of the brake and the clutch control reservoirs. Last but not least, the Diavel V4 is offered in Ducati Red body colour.
