Syarikat Jasa Selamat Sdn Bhd has strengthened its transport operations with the addition of 22 Scania Super G460 cement tanker trucks, investing in improved fuel efficiency, safety and fleet management as the company expands its business.
The new trucks were handed over to Yew Choo Kein, Managing Director of Syarikat Jasa Selamat, by Joyce Antar, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, in Ipoh.
According to Yew Ze Hao, Director of Syarikat Jasa Selamat, the decision to purchase the Scania Super models was driven by the need to reduce operating costs without sacrificing the pulling power and reliability required for demanding cement transportation duties.
Having operated Scania trucks previously, the company is familiar with their performance and reliability. The latest Super powertrain is expected to deliver further fuel savings while maintaining the performance needed for its daily operations.
The Scania Super G460 produces 2,500Nm of torque from as low as 900rpm, which Scania says enables fuel savings of up to 8% without compromising performance or reliability. The strong low-rev torque delivery is particularly relevant for heavy-duty transport, where consistent pulling power and fuel efficiency are important to managing operating expenses.
Safety is another key feature, with the trucks equipped with driver and passenger protection features including side curtain airbags and a steering wheel airbag. The safety package also includes an Electronic Brake System (EBS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control (TC).
Beyond the vehicles themselves, the deal includes Scania’s Inclusive Maintenance programme, which provides proactive servicing support through its service network and trained technicians. The arrangement is intended to help minimise downtime and keep the fleet operating reliably.
Syarikat Jasa Selamat will also receive Scania’s Fleet Management System Control Package, giving the company access to operational data through the My Scania portal and Scania Fleet app. Available functions include real-time vehicle tracking, performance monitoring, carbon dioxide emissions reporting, service planning, defect reporting and driver evaluation.
Drivers can use the Scania Driver app to complete pre-departure checks, access vehicle information, monitor driving hours and performance, review service bookings and locate nearby Scania workshops.
Joyce Antar said digital fleet management tools can help operators make better-informed decisions, control fuel and maintenance expenses, improve productivity and support more sustainable operations.
The package also includes access to Scania Financial Services, providing financing solutions to help the company manage its investment as it continues to grow.
