BMW Group Malaysia has officially launched the new BMW M2 CS, bringing the most powerful, lightest and most track-focused version of the M2 ever built to Malaysian enthusiasts.
Unveiled at the BMW Clubhouse event at Factory 19, Petaling Jaya, the limited-production coupe is priced from RM950,800, or RM993,100 with BMW’s 5-Year Service & Repair Inclusive package.
More Power, Less Weight
Power comes from BMW M’s familiar 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six (S58), producing 530 hp (390 kW) and 650 Nm of torque. Unlike its M3 sibling, the M2 CS remains rear-wheel drive, sending power exclusively to the rear axle through an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.
The result is a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.8 seconds, before reaching an electronically unlocked top speed of 302 km/h with the standard M Driver’s Package.
However, the biggest engineering achievement isn’t simply the extra power.
BMW has shaved approximately 30 kg from the standard M2 by extensively using carbon fibre throughout the car.
Carbon Fibre Everywhere
The new M2 CS features a carbon-fibre roof, carbon tailgate, carbon rear diffuser, carbon centre console, and lightweight M Carbon bucket seats, making it the lightest BMW M2 ever produced.
The carbon tailgate also integrates a ducktail spoiler, increasing rear downforce while contributing to overall weight reduction.
Completing the aggressive exterior are 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged alloy wheels finished in Gold Bronze and wrapped in track-focused tyres.
Engineered for the Circuit
BMW has also extensively revised the chassis. The Adaptive M Suspension sits 8 mm lower than the standard M2 and receives unique spring and damper tuning to sharpen handling.
Meanwhile, the electronically controlled M Sport Differential, M Compound brakes, and 10-stage M Traction Control allow drivers to tailor the car’s behaviour for both road and circuit use.
