Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia 2026 Returns with New Categories, Bigger Stage

PESCM

The search for Malaysia’s next sim racing star is back on, as the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia (PESCM) returns for its third edition in 2026—bringing with it new formats, fresh competition categories, and an even closer link to real-world motorsport.

Organised by Sime Darby Auto Performance, the championship officially opens for registration on 13 March 2026, inviting young racing enthusiasts to prove their skills in a highly competitive virtual environment.

According to Christopher Hunter, the initiative continues Porsche’s long-standing motorsport legacy while creating a pathway for aspiring drivers to develop their craft. He emphasised that PESCM is more than just a game—it’s a platform for young talents to refine their abilities and potentially transition into real-world racing.

Real racing, virtual battlefield

Just like the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, PESCM adopts a one-make racing format where all participants compete in identical machinery—the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. With equal equipment across the board, outcomes are determined purely by driver skill, consistency, and racecraft.

For 2026, all virtual circuits will mirror tracks from the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia calendar, further enhancing the realism and competitive edge of the championship.

New female category introduced

A major highlight this year is the introduction of a dedicated all-female category, aimed at encouraging greater participation from young women in motorsport. Open to participants aged 10 to 23, the new class reflects Porsche’s push toward inclusivity and diversity in racing.

The full list of categories includes:

  • Junior Dreamers (10–14 years old)
  • Young Dreamers (15–17 years old)
  • Driven Dreamers (18–23 years old)
  • Female Dreamers (10–23 years old)

Multi-stage qualifying across Malaysia

The competition will be held on Assetto Corsa, featuring a three-stage knockout qualifying format.

Qualifying Round 1 will take place at key locations nationwide:

  • Bangsar Shopping Centre (18–19 April)
  • Mid Valley Southkey (25–26 April)
  • Gurney Paragon Mall (2–3 May)

Top performers will advance to Qualifying Round 2 at Porsche Centres nationwide, before the best drivers progress to Qualifying Round 3 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil on 4–5 July 2026.

Grand finale at Sepang

The championship finale will take place alongside Rounds 9 to 11 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia at the iconic Sepang International Circuit on 22–23 August 2026. The top 10 drivers from each category will compete during the race weekend, placing Malaysia’s best sim racers right in the heart of real-world motorsport action.

Adding further inspiration is the journey of Naquib Azlan, who won the Driven Dreamers category in 2025 and has since progressed to competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia—demonstrating the tangible pathway from virtual racing to professional motorsport.

With registration now open, PESCM 2026 promises a more dynamic, inclusive, and competitive season—continuing to blur the lines between sim racing and real-world racing for Malaysia’s next generation of drivers.
