Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia has officially introduced the Omoda C9 PHEV, positioning it as the brand’s most powerful and technologically advanced model to date. Entering the premium performance SUV space, this coupe-styled plug-in hybrid brings a unique tri-motor setup, combining electrified performance with long-distance usability.
At the heart of the C9 PHEV is the brand’s Super Hybrid System (SHS), pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a tri-motor configuration—two electric motors at the front and one at the rear.
This setup works in tandem with a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), delivering a combined output of 395 kW (537 PS) and 650 Nm of torque. The result is serious performance, with a 0–100 km/h sprint time of just 4.9 seconds, alongside intelligent all-wheel-drive capability when needed.
Despite the performance, efficiency remains a strong suit. The C9 PHEV boasts a claimed fuel consumption of just 1.4L/100 km (NEDC), while offering a total driving range of up to 1,100 km. A 34.46 kWh LFP battery enables up to 169 km of pure electric driving, and supports 70 kW DC fast charging (30–80% in 25 minutes) as well as 6.6 kW AC charging for home use.
On the road, the C9 PHEV is engineered for both comfort and control. It rides on a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension setup, complemented by Continuous Damping Control (CDC) that adjusts damping forces in real time.
Drivers can also toggle between multiple drive modes and regenerative braking levels, tailoring the driving experience to suit varying conditions.
Inside, the cabin reflects the model’s premium positioning. You’ll find black leather upholstery, dual 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment, and a 14-speaker Sony sound system with headrest-integrated speakers.
Comfort features include heated and ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, a panoramic sunroof, Head-Up Display, and even a built-in fragrance system. Boot space stands at 660 litres, expandable to 1,783 litres with the rear seats folded.
Safety is equally comprehensive, with a full suite of Level 2.5 ADAS features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Auto Park Assist, among others.
A 540-degree surround view camera system further enhances visibility in tight spaces. The model also carries a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, supported by a structure made up of 85% high-strength steel.
Locally assembled in Shah Alam, the Omoda C9 PHEV AWD is priced from RM208,800 (OTR without insurance). It comes with a 7-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty, while the engine is covered for up to 10 years or 1,000,000 km. Key electrified components, including the battery and motors, are backed by a 10-year/200,000 km warranty.
As part of its launch campaign, early customers who book the vehicle between 18 March and 30 April 2026 will receive a RM3,000 rebate, along with a complimentary Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) cable.
That being said, the Omoda C9 PHEV goes up against a growing list of electrified SUVs in Malaysia, including the BYD Sealion 6, Chery Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV, and higher-end options like the Volvo XC60 Recharge. However, its tri-motor setup and sub-5-second sprint time give it a distinct performance edge in this segment.
