Gerimis Baiduri Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian logistics company specialising in frozen and chilled transportation, has expanded its fleet with the delivery of five units of the UD Trucks New Kuzer light-duty truck.
The vehicles were supplied by LK Utara Sdn Bhd, a dealer under Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE), the sole authorised distributor of UD Trucks in Malaysia. The new additions will support Gerimis Baiduri’s day-to-day logistics operations and improve overall fleet efficiency.
The handover ceremony took place at Gerimis Baiduri’s headquarters in Puchong, Selangor, and was attended by Dato Liew Tiam Seng, Managing Director of Gerimis Baiduri; Loh Thim Choy, Chief Operating Officer of TCIE; and Chong Boon Fuei, Managing Director of LK Utara. A symbolic mock key presentation marked the official completion of the delivery.
Launched in Malaysia earlier this year, the UD Trucks New Kuzer is designed to enhance productivity for logistics operators through improvements in payload capacity, performance, chassis design, emissions compliance, durability, and safety. Power comes from a 5.2-litre Euro 4 diesel engine paired with an advanced fuel injection system and a six-speed overdrive gearbox, delivering improved performance alongside cleaner emissions.
Dato Liew said Gerimis Baiduri has grown over the past 25 years into a key player in Malaysia’s refrigerated logistics sector, providing customised transportation solutions for its clients. He added that the company places strong emphasis on workforce development, service quality, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence.
He noted that Gerimis Baiduri’s long-standing experience with UD Trucks has contributed positively to business growth and customer confidence. The decision to add the New Kuzer to its fleet was driven by the model’s higher payload capacity, efficient engine performance with lower emissions, and proven reliability, as well as the consistent aftersales support provided by LK Utara and TCIE.
A UD Trucks customer since 2008, Gerimis Baiduri currently operates more than 100 medium- and light-duty UD vehicles. The company expects the New Kuzer to deliver improved fuel efficiency, higher uptime, and increased productivity across its logistics operations.
The New Kuzer is offered in 7.5-tonne and 8.5-tonne Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) variants. The 7.5-tonne version provides a payload of up to 4,880kg, representing an increase of over 600kg compared to the previous model. This higher carrying capacity allows operators to transport more goods per trip, improving delivery efficiency and reducing long-term operating costs.
Loh said the New Kuzer was developed in line with UD Trucks’ focus on smart logistics and the rising demand for dependable commercial vehicles, particularly for urban distribution. He added that the truck’s safety technologies and emissions standards contribute to enhanced durability, performance, and environmental sustainability.
Standard safety equipment on the New Kuzer includes an SRS airbag, Anti-Slip Regulator (ASR), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), cab tilt warning, and reverse alarm. The cab meets ECE R29 safety certification standards, while LED headlamps provide improved visibility for safer driving conditions.
TCIE also offers customers support through the UD Extra Mile Services programme, which includes genuine parts, fixed-price maintenance packages with priority scheduling, 24/7 Res-Q roadside assistance, and professional service support to ensure maximum vehicle uptime. The New Kuzer is backed by a warranty of up to five years or 300,000km, whichever comes first.
