UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has introduced the Toyota Vellfire 2.5 HEV Executive Lounge in Malaysia, positioning it as the new flagship of the Vellfire and Alphard range.
At the core of the Vellfire HEV is Toyota’s 2.5-litre Dynamic Force Hybrid system. It pairs an A25A-FXS four-cylinder petrol engine with a high-output electric motor, delivering a combined system output of 250 PS — around 37 percent more than the standard 2.5-litre petrol-only Vellfire.
The petrol engine produces 187 PS and 233 Nm, while the electric motor contributes 182 PS and 270 Nm. The self-charging HEV system eliminates the need for external charging, recharging the battery automatically through regenerative braking and engine operation.
Fuel consumption is rated at 5.7 litres per 100 km, approximately 37 percent better than the non-hybrid 2.5-litre variant. With a 60-litre fuel tank, the estimated driving range can reach up to 1,000 km. CO₂ emissions are reduced to 129 g/km, reinforcing the hybrid’s efficiency advantage. An EV mode allows near-silent, zero-emission driving over short distances when battery conditions permit.
The fourth-generation Vellfire is built on Toyota’s TNGA GA-K platform, which brings increased body rigidity, improved stability, and a more composed ride. Extensive sound insulation, anti-vibration measures, and acoustic glass contribute to a notably quieter cabin, an important consideration for executive-class MPV buyers.
Its “Forceful x IMPACT LUXURY” design theme features a bold front fascia, strong body surfacing, and a wide stance. The lighting package includes Tri-LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, sequential indicators, and cornering lamps.
The Vellfire 2.5 HEV Executive Lounge is offered in Platinum White Pearl, Precious Metal, and Black.
Interior
Inside, Executive Lounge VIP seats take centre stage. These fully powered seats offer recline, ottoman support, ventilation, and massage functions, all controlled via a dedicated multi-operation panel or a smartphone-style remote.
Toyota has also introduced an anti-vibration seat structure to further reduce fatigue on long journeys. Large armrests integrate a rotary table and vanity mirror, underlining the vehicle’s business-class intent.
Nappa leather upholstery, soft-touch materials, and precise stitching elevate the perceived quality, while ambient ceiling lighting with up to 64 selectable colours allows occupants to tailor the cabin atmosphere. A new Sunset Brown interior theme joins the existing Black option and is exclusive to the flagship HEV variant.
Rear passengers are entertained by a 14-inch ceiling-mounted display paired with a 15-speaker JBL audio system, tuned specifically for Malaysian radio frequencies. Cabin air quality is addressed through a NanoeX ioniser integrated into the ventilation system, designed to reduce bacteria, allergens, and odours.
Meanwhile, the front seat offers eight-way power adjustment with memory, complemented by a leather-wrapped steering wheel with wood accents and revised switchgear. The digital interface consists of a 12.3-inch instrument display, a head-up display, and Touch Tracer controls that reduce eye movement by projecting control feedback onto the display.
Smartphone connectivity is handled via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while powered sliding doors and a motorised tailgate improve everyday usability. A side-mounted rear door switch allows easier access in tight spaces.
Safety and Driver Assistance
The Vellfire HEV is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, featuring an updated camera and radar system for improved detection and intervention. Key systems include:
- Pre-Collision System with enhanced intersection and cross-traffic detection
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with smoother speed modulation
- Lane Tracing Assist and Lane Departure Alert with steering support
- Road Sign Assist for speed limit recognition
- Adaptive High-Beam System
- Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Parking Support Brake
Additional safety equipment includes six airbags, stability and traction control systems, hill-start assist, brake hold, tyre pressure monitoring, and a digital inner rear-view mirror with camera-based visibility.
Ownership and After-Sales Support
All officially imported Vellfire HEV models come with features not typically found on privately imported units, including Remote Engine Start via Toyota’s Vehicle Telematics System and front and rear digital video recorders integrated with the Toyota mobile app.
UMWT backs the Vellfire 2.5 HEV Executive Lounge with a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year hybrid system warranty covering the battery, inverter, and power management control unit. Toyota also guarantees parts availability for up to 10 years after production ends.
That being said, the Toyota Vellfire 2.5 HEV Executive Lounge joins the existing Alphard 2.4T Executive Lounge and Vellfire 2.5 petrol variants, which continue unchanged.
