PRO-NET, the subsidiary responsible for Proton’s electric vehicle operations, has announced major progress in its EV rollout. The Proton e.MAS 5, introduced as Malaysia’s first affordable EV, has attracted more than 10,000 bookings nationwide since order intake began.

The response highlights growing consumer confidence in local EV offerings and marks a key step forward in Proton’s wider electrification plans.

The announcement comes as the Proton e.MAS 7 continues to lead the EV market. Since its launch, the e.MAS 7 has recorded a total of 7,413 units delivered as of 31 October 2025.

This figure includes 6,954 units sold within Malaysia and 459 exported. With this performance, the e.MAS 7 maintains its position as the top-selling EV in Malaysia for ten consecutive months.

PRO-NET Chief Executive Officer Zhang Qiang expressed appreciation for the market’s strong reception. “We are truly humbled by the continued support Malaysians have shown towards both the Proton e.MAS 7 and now, the Proton e.MAS 5 as well. Every booking received is a mark of trust in our commitment to deliver the e.MAS 5 at the highest standards. As the national automaker, we will continue to uphold our responsibility to make electric mobility more accessible and reliable,” he said.

Booking data shows the highest demand coming from the Central Region, followed by the Southern and Northern Regions. Interest from East Malaysia and the East Coast is also rising.

According to Proton dealers, most e.MAS 5 customers are working professionals selecting it as their primary daily vehicle. The Power Trade-In programme, which provides an additional RM1,000 rebate for trade-in customers, has also encouraged current car owners to switch.

The model has also captured attention among first-time buyers and households seeking a second vehicle. Buyers cite affordability, everyday practicality, compact dimensions, and user-friendly technology as key reasons for choosing the e.MAS 5.

Customers can still place bookings for the Proton e.MAS 5, which is currently offered with a RM3,000 launch rebate until 31 December 2025. Early adopters can also benefit from a limited-time ownership package valued at up to RM8,000*, which includes a complimentary 7kW home charger and five years of unlimited in-car internet data.
