In celebration of the MotoGP Malaysia Grand Prix 2025, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) officially introduced the 2025 Yamaha YZF-R25 during an exclusive MotoGP Rider Meet and Greet session.
The event saw the presence of HLYM’s top management alongside riders from the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP teams, adding a dose of racing excitement to the launch.
Drawing inspiration directly from Yamaha’s pure racing DNA, the latest R25 brings the thrill of the track to the streets. The 2025 model showcases a sharper, more aggressive R-Series design language aimed at riders who desire both performance and style in their daily rides.
The updated YZF-R25 embodies the latest evolution of Yamaha’s R-Series family. Its extended front fairing gives it a faster, more aerodynamic appearance, while the sleek, contrasting body panels accentuate its athletic stance. Twin-eyed position lights reinforce its signature race-ready look, ensuring it stands out from every angle.
Designed for both comfort and control, the new R25’s lightweight chassis and compact proportions make it agile and rider-friendly. A redesigned seat and slimmer side panels improve ergonomics and allow easier foot reach, giving riders enhanced confidence whether navigating urban traffic or enjoying open roads.
Enhancing its sport credentials, the 2025 YZF-R25 now features an Assist & Slipper (A&S) clutch. This system minimizes engine braking during downshifts, providing smoother gear transitions and greater stability during aggressive deceleration. The result is a more responsive and enjoyable riding experience, especially for those who love spirited rides.
Technology takes center stage with Yamaha’s Y-Connect app compatibility, allowing riders to pair their smartphones for real-time updates. The app displays information such as fuel consumption, maintenance reminders, phone notifications, and even the motorcycle’s last parked location — offering a smarter, more connected ownership experience.
Powering the R25 is a 249cc inline twin-cylinder DOHC engine that produces 26.4 kW at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm, delivering strong performance across the rev range. The bike continues to feature ABS and LED turn indicators, combining safety with modern styling.
The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R25 is now available at all authorised Yamaha dealerships nationwide in two striking colour options — Pearl Blu and Racing Blu. The model is priced at RM23,098 (excluding insurance and registration fees).
