GAC Motor and AION turned heads at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 with a dynamic showcase of their latest electrified models, underlining their commitment to shaping the future of mobility in Malaysia.
The automakers, represented locally by WTCA, introduced a range of vehicles that combine innovation, sustainability, and performance — headlined by the official debut of the GAC M8 PHEV, Malaysia’s first flagship plug-in hybrid MPV.
GAC M8 PHEV Opens for Booking

Leading the charge was the highly anticipated GAC M8 PHEV, now open for bookings. Touted as a game-changer in the premium MPV segment, the luxury people-mover boasts an impressive combined range of up to 1,038 kilometres per full tank and charge. Powered by advanced hybrid technology, the M8 aims to offer seamless transitions between city commuting and long-distance travel — all while keeping emissions and fuel consumption in check.
Equipped with GAC’s industry-first rear windscreen airbag and 360° airbag system, the M8 also features comprehensive driver assistance systems, magazine battery tech for enhanced safety, and a refined cabin designed for family, corporate, and executive use.

The M8 is expected to be priced from RM333,000, according to WTC Automotive CEO Tan Keng Meng, with full specifications to be announced closer to its market release. Early customers will enjoy perks including two years of free scheduled maintenance, a portable charging cable, and warranties of up to 8 years or 150,000 km for key EV components.
HYPTEC HT previewed ahead of Q3 launch
Another showstopper at the booth was the HYPTEC HT, a futuristic EV that drew large crowds with its dramatic gull-wing doors and bold styling. Already making waves across ASEAN, the HT is gearing up for its Malaysian launch in Q3 2025.

With a projected range of up to 620km (NEDC) and support for 280kW DC fast charging, the HT blends everyday usability with cutting-edge electric performance. Its use of magazine battery technology also ensures enhanced thermal safety and durability, addressing growing concerns over EV battery integrity.
AION V Makes Malaysian Debut
Also making its first appearance in Malaysia was the AION V electric SUV, fresh off a successful debut at the Paris Motor Show. Featuring a muscular, dinosaur-inspired design and a 100kW electric motor producing 240Nm of torque, the AION V sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.

With a tested range of up to 602km (NEDC), it combines striking aesthetics with practical range, poised to appeal to a wide spectrum of EV adopters.
GS3 EMZOOM Celebrates First Anniversary
Capping off the showcase, GAC Motor announced a limited-time Anniversary Mega Offer to celebrate the GS3 EMZOOM’s first year in Malaysia. Under the campaign slogan “More Style, More Power, More Thrill,” customers can now own the crossover from as low as RM990/month. The offer is stackable with the ongoing “Drive Home A GAC, Win More Rewards” promotion via the FunHub app, with total prizes exceeding RM600,000.

GAC Motor and AION’s strong showing at the autoshow signals their continued investment in Malaysia’s electrification journey. With more localised models and launches expected, the brands aim to meet rising demand for intelligent, efficient, and sustainable vehicles in both hybrid and fully electric segments.
