Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) has entered into a strategic partnership with PKT Logistics (M) Sdn. Bhd. (PKT) to strengthen its transportation and logistics operations in the country. The collaboration was formalised through a Framework Agreement signing ceremony held at PKT’s The Ship Campus in Batu Kawan, Penang.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Susanne Lehmann, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia, described the collaboration as a key milestone in VGM’s growth journey.
“This agreement goes beyond a contract—it represents an important step forward in ensuring seamless, reliable, and efficient logistics operations that support Volkswagen’s regional supply chain,” she said.
PKT Group Chief Executive and Managing Director, Dato’ Seri (Dr.) Michael Tio, highlighted the company’s track record in automotive logistics and commitment to sustainable practices.
“With decades of experience serving global brands, PKT remains committed to ESG-driven operations. Our role is to not only support Volkswagen’s supply chain, but also contribute towards Malaysia’s vision of becoming a regional logistics hub,” he added.
The partnership is expected to enhance both inbound and outbound logistics for VGM, improving supply chain agility, resilience, and customer experience. It also aligns with the broader transformation of the logistics industry, which increasingly emphasises sustainability, efficiency, and transparency.
PKT has been at the forefront of green logistics in Malaysia, having built the country’s first Green Building Index (GBI) Gold-certified warehouse. The company continues to champion eco-friendly initiatives, CSR programmes, and energy-efficient infrastructure.
Its commitment to ESG extends to education through Peninsula College at The Ship Campus, which integrates academic programmes with industry exposure under the Jom! Bekerja Sambil Belajar (JBSB) initiative. PKT also supports underprivileged students through Yayasan PKT scholarships and bursaries.
“We strongly believe that developing human capital and fostering sustainable ecosystems create long-term value, not just for our business but also for the wider community,” said Tio.
Globally, the Volkswagen Group is one of the largest automakers, producing and selling around nine million vehicles annually across 115 plants worldwide. In Malaysia, five of its brands—Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Scania, and MAN—are manufactured and distributed locally. Porsche began local assembly in 2021, while Audi commenced production in Pekan earlier this year.
VGM, which began operations in 2005, is now preparing to localise electric vehicle (EV) production in collaboration with Malaysian partners under the Volkswagen Production Network. Starting in 2026, the company also plans to launch export projects to other ASEAN markets, further cementing Malaysia’s role in Volkswagen’s regional strategy.
