THACO Donates 30 Iveco Ambulances to Vietnam

Exactly a month after donating 126 units of Mitsubishi Fuso trucks to be used as mobile Covid-19 vaccination centres and testing centres, Vietnam’s top commercial vehicles distributor Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) is once again in the news for the right reasons.

This time around, THACO, which is also the business and industrial partner for Iveco in Vietnam, has donated 30 Iveco Daily ambulances to Ho Chi Minh City in support of its fight against COVID-19.

The ambulances will be used to shuttle COVID-19 patients to hospitals throughout Ho Chi Minh City during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Vietnam.

These ambulances have been transformed locally by THACO based on  IVECO vehicles, which are imported as CKD kits and assembled in THACO’s plant located in Chu Lai Truong Hai Automotive Industrial Zone.

The ambulances are fitted with a full complement of medical equipment, including defibrillators, oscilloscopes, suction machines, and oxygen tank cabinets.

The spacious interior has been optimized to feature two seats to accommodate a nurse and a doctor with the patient in the compartment.

The ambulance is also equipped with a negative pressure disinfection and cleaning system for transporting COVID-19 patients safely.

THACO was established in 1997 and has since become a leader in the Vietnamese commercial vehicles market.

It has been appointed as official distributor and assembler of the IVECO Daily Minibus in Vietnam. The Daily Minibus is supplied in component kits by IVECO for assembly at the THACO factory in the Chu Lai Truong Hai Automobile Industrial Zone, and is sold and supported through the THACO distribution network in Vietnam.

Currently, the Iveco brand’s range of products include the Daily, a vehicle that covers the 3.3 – 7.2 ton vehicle weight segment, the Eurocargo from 6 – 19 tons and, in the heavy segment above 16 tons,  the IVECO WAY range with the on-road IVECO S-WAY, the off-road IVECO T-WAY  and the IVECO X-WAY for light off-road missions.

In addition, there is the IVECO Astra brand which builds off-road trucks, rigid and articulated dumpers as well as special vehicles.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation announced that Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO), the general distributor of FUSO products in Vietnam, has donated 126 Canter trucks to the national vaccination drive in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

In response to government calls for private sector support, THACO has donated 63 units of the 4.99t Canter truck for vaccination transport, and another 63 units of the 6.5t Canter truck to be used as mobile vaccination and testing centres.

These light-duty trucks were exported as KD kits from MFTBC’s Kawasaki plant and locally assembled by THACO at a facility located in the central province of Quang Nam.

6.5 million USD worth

The trucks, which come with refrigeration and rear steps for easy access into the cargo area, together exceed 150 billion VND (approx. 6.5 million USD) in total value.

The FUSO vehicles will be operated around the country to meet the government’s goal of vaccinating 70% of the adult population by the end of March 2022.

Earlier this year, Vietnam launched a public fund to secure and distribute vaccine doses for its population of around 100 million.

War against Covid-19

Organizations within and outside of Vietnam have since contributed, in an effort to spur on the nation’s vaccination campaign.

THACO has supported pandemic prevention measures since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic; in addition to this recent donation of trucks, the company has provided local municipalities with funds and medical supplies such as disinfectants, gloves, protective gear, and testing kits.

THACO was established in 1997 and has since become a leader in the Vietnamese commercial vehicles market, with a distribution network of 33 outlets.

THACO became the exclusive wholesale distributor and local assembly partner for FUSO products in 2017, and thanks to its extensive sales network, has increased the market presence of the FUSO brand in Vietnam. The Vietnamese FUSO lineup ranges from light-duty to heavy-duty trucks, and also includes the light-duty Rosa bus.
